Re: Ducati Scrambler Motard and DesertX
The Motard one looks alright.
The ADV looks a bit like an old Cagiva Elefant and not in a good way.

Straight from the pages of a cartoon book. A really poor cartoon book.

How can something that has clearly had a lot of thought and care poured into it, be so goppingly fecking ugly?

Nah.
I dislike the looks of adventure bikes and the other offering is like a proper supermoto's fat brother.

Re: Ducati Scrambler Motard and DesertX
Too many people with far too little taste in here...
Before I was into WSB or GP was a kid, I used to watch Eurosport's coverage of the Paris Dakar and other rallye raids religiously in the early-mid 90's! Cagiva Elefant was my dream bike back before I'd even seen a Ducati 916! To my eyes, that Desert X Scrambler looks to a Cagiva Elefant as a Singer does to an original Porsche 911... Basically, all of the ethos of the original but subtly pumped up and all the better for it!
The SCR looks a whole lot of fun too, but then so does the existing Desert Sled, and in fact any of the Scrambler range with increased suspension travel and ride height look bloody fantastic to start with!

P&H are taking deposits (it's ~£14k) but they're vague on delivery dates.

Re: Ducati Scrambler Motard and DesertX
Put down the deposit yet?
I really like the look of those , as you say, like the full fat Dakar bikes of the 80's instead of the more modern 450 Rallye style bikes.
I have never really liked the Scrambler range at all since they launched but that latest one looks better than the others .... again though its a bike i wouldnt own as it has no place in what i need a bike for

That, but opposite.
The 'tard looks like it's been sat on by a fat kid, then rammed by an 18 wheeler, into another 18 wheeler.
And if I'm being honest the lights on the Desert X are bob, it looks like someone is getting kick backs from the Disney cute robot division.

Re: Ducati Scrambler Motard and DesertX
I always liked the look of the Cagiva Elefant. I never rode one though, I did ride the later Navigator with the TL1000 enigne but it was quite a different bike. Didn't the Elefant have a 750 / 900SS Ducati engine? That doesn't sound good to me, for a number of reasons.
I like the look of the DesertX, very Squid Game. Although it may date like the early LED sidelight Audis.
