Yeah they mentioned that at the weekend. I got the impression Jack is on a standard bike. Just doing it for the laughs

Standard bikes are still pretty good. Apparently last year when the GP lads had to ride the new circuit on road bikes, the lap times were a bit tasty.
And it will have a few trick bits 😉

He is on a hiding to nothing as expected to win so definitely just for shits and giggles on a standard bike ...... i wonder just how "standard" it will be ;)

I seem to remember Guinters was pretty damn fast on a bog stock GSXR round Donnington complete with number plate, mirrors and road tyres. Think it was 5C temp as well. Something like 10 sec off WSB

That sounds a lot. Superstock bikes are only 2 seconds off BSB.

I seem to recall he cut shed loads of time off that by changing the oe tyres and being a warmer day in another video. He did a series where he went from show room to trackbike. The 1.37 was with 5c track temp and no changes other than dropping tyre pressures, he rode to the circuit.

Was following this but for some reason the live feed wasn’t working so had to settle with the live timing.

I’ve followed asbk and ama for years, and as much as I follow it purely because of being a bike nut the coverage etc is absolute gash, it’s enough sometimes to say “fuck it, ain’t watching it anymore”…… secondly, the asbk Instagram feed is utter pish. I don’t know how many times I’ve had a whinge on their page and yet they do nothing.

Anyway, I’d say that performance from Jack was pretty decent when you take everything into consideration.

I think his problem will have been the spec of the bike. In all forms of racing the 'factory' teams are head and shoulders above the lower teams.

The fact that people like Cal have jumped into GP and not been amazing, or Savadori who was average in both does show there's not much between the classes overall, think Pirro too, etc. However yeah you'd still think Miller would have beaten them even on lower spec machines.

In his defence, I bet it was very very different to his GP bike in terms of chasis, tyres, brakes etc.

I doubt it was a stocker, but I bet it wasn't full ASBK spec.

He was quickest through the speed trap though, a motogp rider should be able to jump onto a domestic superbike series and smoke them all. Redding did it in BSB.
I like Miller but thought he’d win it easy.

Well during one of the free practise runs before losing the front, he set the fastest ever lap time but Wayne later on set the fastest.

I think when you factor in everything including the track etc which when was the last time he was ever there? Factor that all in then it’s very acceptable where he finished and how he performed.

Cal jumped into MotoGP and wasn't amazing? Hmmm, your idea of what constitutes a good rider and mine may be slightly different.

And I know you're a WSBK fanboy but there is definitely a difference between the quality of riders. I'm not doubting the abilities of the WSBK crowd - but they aren't at the level of most of the MotoGP grid.

As for the Savadori comment - c'mon, even you know a political move when you see one! It was even called out on here!

WEll he was eventually.... :) My point was that there's IMO not a massive difference between the WSB field and the MotoGP field... it's not 2-3s a lap like it once may have been and the MotoGP boys are not destroying the field if they move... think Melandri and the 2nd half of season Bautista. (Rather than the first half of season).

So for me, for Miller not to destroy them on a completely new to him bike without electronics is far from terrible... Sure it's not what he'd have liked... but it's not a disaster.
