IIRC it's 21 hours training (some online) with St John if you're FaW qualified.

Although... talking to someone today, person 3 in front had an allergic reaction to the vaccine, had to be injected with adrenaline etc! :wtf:
That's why they need 1 medic on duty at each centre - to deal with post-jab issues like that.

21 hours? Crumbs. I could probably do a tonsilectomy after 21 hours training.

Edit: A friend (who coincidentally used to work for the BMJ) says '21 hours? Pah. The vet trained me to inject the cat in 5 minutes, while we were standing in the car park, using a stuffed toy as the patient'.

Well, Covid wins again. I'm gonna be binning the pre-Christmas Paris trip. France has announced testing needed for all, inc. fully vaccinated. Plus coming back it's now Day 2 PCR testing and self-isolation 'til results are received. Given the fuck-knuckles running these testing centres I ain't taking that chance.

All volunteers will meet strict selection criteria, mandated by the NHS, and receive appropriate clinical training, including official courses developed in partnership with and approved by NHS England.

Training requirements for vaccination volunteer roles vary from 21.5 hours for a Volunteer Vaccinator to 12.5 hours for a Volunteer Patient Advocate. Training is a blend of online learning and COVID-secure, face-to-face training, over 4 weeks covering:

Welcome programme introducing you to the project and wider charity.
Training on appropriate IT systems and processes associated with this project.
Moving and handling.
Training in appropriate St John Ambulance policies.
St John Ambulance safeguarding training relevant to your role.
As well as extensive training, volunteers will be subject to assessments and clinical supervision to ensure their safety and that of everyone receiving the vaccine.

I'm doing 'Dry Monday to Thursday'. Arching for a bloody pint, I am....
Sounds like poofery to me.
I'll be in London Monday to Thurday next week and I'll have a find a real gentleman of sturdier stuff to drink with then.
I’m going to London every day at the moment. Bloody annoying it is too.

£65 a day for me and the wife return which might not sound like much but give it another few days and it would have been cheaper getting new eyes off the dark web.

If you’re still around I’ll happily share a pint and send you on your way with a fab bottle of bourbon.

If this is not purely precautionary then HMG must have advance knowledge of bad news about Omicron.

Whatever is behind it, this will kill off the travel industry good and proper.

http://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-pre- ... t-12486556
All international arrivals to the UK will again be required to take pre-departure COVID-19 tests to tackle the spread of the new Omicron variant, the health secretary has announced.

The rule applies to all travellers visiting the UK or returning from a holiday, regardless of vaccination status, and will come into force from 4am on Tuesday 7 December.

Tests must be taken a maximum of 48 hours before the departure time.

IMO, they should have done that ages ago and we might not be in a situation where 50, 000 people a day are testing positive.

I am not party to whether or not HMG has advance knowledge of bad news about Omicron, but if it does not then because it seems that the double vaccinated and especially boosted if infected with Omicron do not require hospitalisation, I would be against it.

Edit: about.

There may also be other factors not yet in the public domain involved such as the level of flu infections, we shall see.

As framed the question was about a situation in which there are known and unknown unknowns so yes, I answered the question as framed. But if you require an answer to suit your zero risk proclivities then you should stay at home as you have previously said that you are doing.

The reason I wanted an answer is because you spend loads of time posting links without actually giving any insight, input, thoughts. It'd be nice to know if you agree, disagree, would so things differently or, well, whatever

If it is indeed purely precautionary then on the balance of evidence that I have seen then I would disagree.
