Thanks guys. Very tired here and this wasn’t meant to be a look at me post. Frustrated.

I’m hoping that others have safe passage working their way through this mess. This was for an emergency, there are many many thousands out there in chronic condition hell waiting for life improvement treatment.

You deserve a bit of look at me time, nobody should have to go through that shit to get treatment.

I loikes the pub's the pub also but i think i have been 5 times since this covid shit started. I dont see the point in entering wearing a mask and allowed to take it off at my table. Then put it on again if i want to go for a piss. The lack of people socialising takes away the atmosphere for me as we are table service here. Until that that changes im staying away unless a family event comes up. We still go out for a meal and we are allowed a two hour slot so a few beers after that and its home for us. Beer in the fridge is just as nice.

Cant say i want to cuddle anyone in the pubs i have been in mind you.

I don't disagree and I hope the op goes ok and everything work out for them, but....... not everyone has a buddy to call to make it happen, anyone else would have been told to sling their hook, emergency as this was, or otherwise.

You'd hope that getting emergency treatment in cases like this would be a no brainer, but if not, as it seems to not be, one would hate to dwell on the numbers waiting for simple routine surgery living in fear and pain.

The whole world is completely fucked up yes... different rules, different ideas, different countries. I don't personally believe ours is any more fucked up than the rest.... maybe not better... but that's the nature of the virus we're dealing with too.

Perfect example of the current bizarre world that Potter refers to - Jenny Harries and Sage etc state the (you'd think) bleeding obvious. We catch/give diseases from/to other people, Omicron looks like it could be quite transmittable and vaccine resistant and we don't know yet how bad it is, so consider carefully how and when you mingle/socialise etc. Pretty simple really and not bad advice, Omicron or not.

Boris Johnson has contradicted leading scientists and one of his most senior health officials who advised people to cut back on unnecessary socialising in response to Omicron, as he urged people not to cancel their Christmas parties or nativity plays.

I assume he means don't cancel them....yet? It's not going to go down well if the Government do tell them to cancel in 2 weeks time because it has spread rapidly and hospital admittances are up.

I'm sure i"ve read that the new one is mild compared to the others. So, which is it?

Normal flu is vaccine resistant to a fair degree isn't it? If the new one is like normal flu (easily transmitted but not generally deadly), then surely masks and being sensible is ok? (although from various friends who've been in the uk recently I've heard that sensible isn't really a thing at the moment!)

So far it doesn't appear to be killing lots but it's early days. It may have been around for a while before they started testing specifically for it. There's also the unknown of long term effects and the medical cost of those. So it makes sense to be sensible but some people seem to need rules to enforce common sense.

I swerved the mosh pit at the Brixton Academy the other week. Not because of covid, you understand, but because I'm 52 and would have looked a right prick.



Some Tory MP did make a valid point the other day, that you need to put a mask on for 2 minutes when you buy a bottle of wine from the offy, but then go to somebody's house for a party with a hundred people there, cheek by jowl. Seems a little like pissing on a bonfire, but then what's the alternative? Full lockdown every time a new variant crops up? We've been there and seen the carnage that leaves. Seems the only option is to vaccinate, vaccinate and then vaccinate some more.

If (a big if), it's more transmissable, but has less serious symptoms (especially in vaccinated people) then it could be a good thing if it outcompetes Delta and become the more dominant strain.
