Yeah that clutch is a very impressive bit of kit. I was working at R-R when it was being developed (working in a different dept) and they were very proud of it, so it was always in company bulletins. It's something mad like 15,000bhp engaged in half a second.
I was working in (but not for) R-R in Filton and there was a buzz about the place for the clutch and nozzle rotation mechanism, and the engineering challenge to get them to work.

The Soviet VTOL naval aircraft (Yak-38?) had an auto eject feature to save the pilot if things went belly up during the hover. I think they had to disable it after a few inadvertent ejections!
In fact IIRC the prototype of the super sonic successor to said aircraft was actually bought by Lockheed in the 90's when they were first developing the JSF, which ultimately became the F-35.

Why ? Do people expect Hamilton to ease off if 5s ahead ? Or Federer not to win 6-0, 6-0 playing a minnow ? It's competitive sport, you play your best, if that means you win 20-0 then tough really

Under two million if my google is working as it should. They only needed 11 out all its women that can play. TBH even just one that could act as a goal keeper as the lass they has were shocking and no, i dont think they should take the foot off the gas. OK if the game is won put on players that dont get of the bench much but even then they deserve the right to score for there country also.

Is there not also some significance to how many goals you've scored in the qualifying rounds too? Goal difference sort of thing? Therefore it'd be in your interest to get as many as possible no?
Doesn't the England team usually go 1-0 up and then fanny around for the rest of the match? I know the blokes beat San Marino 10-0 a couple of weeks ago, all these big numbers don't seem like the England way
The main problem with 20-0 scorelines in a sport that is trying to be taken seriously is that it doesn't encourage anyone to take it seriously. The competition needs a bit of a drains-up rethink so it looks more like an actual competition.
Doubt is not a pleasant condition.

I didn't take saga's comment as a sneer. Civic society is built on compliance. How else would he have anything to rebel against.
