Re: Can't catch a brake
Risk factor, simply by having it means it can never be an excuse if any accidents do happen.
By not having it opens it up to possibly being the cause.
You could never prove that it wasn’t the cause, but it could be plausible that “I or they didn’t hear the electric vehicle”……….

Re: Can't catch a brake
Couple of points.
Electric cars don't beep, the noise is modulated. It rises in pitch as you go faster and it gets more "intense" if you put your foot down. Just like an ICE engine basically. Its all done so that pedestrians can intuitively tell if the car is speeding up or slowing down, gunning it or not etc.
It cuts out at 12mph because at that speed the tyres are the loudest thing on the vehicle anyway so they drown out the "engine". The same is (or at least should be) true of piston engine cars. On a legal/factory spec vehicle the engine should be third on the list after tyres and wind. Tis the law

Sat in the might Metro, waiting at lights, a Honda NSX stopped alongside. I wound (turny handle tech) the window to listen.
Lights changed, it charged away ... almost silent! Sporty doesn't mean noisy.

So long as no one was injured you good to go, I personally wouldn't do it unless he pays up front in cash.formula400 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 12:40 pm Can I can in trouble if I ask they guys if he wants to pay parts and fitting of them at a shop, instead of going though his insurance?

I was kinda suprised when you said they didnt get it knowing where you work and seeing how many cameras are in and on the property .... good news and yes it can be dealt with cash as long as you are happy nothing is bent on the bike with forks or frame.

- from 1 July 2019, manufacturers must fit acoustic sound systems to new types of quiet electric vehicles to prevent them being too silent, improving safety
- vehicles will now have systems to produce a sound when they are reversing or driving below 20 kilometres per hour (km/h, about 12mph) providing greater confidence to vulnerable road users
Pardon?

Re: Can't catch a brake
my Daughters boyfriend inherited his GrandDads MG BGT. He had trouble starting it and kept flattening the battery. He had someone look at it and sort it out. I said what was wrong with it. He said there's a button on the dash which isn't a button, it pulls out to richen the fuel when its cold, its called a choke! If you've only ever known Fi cars...Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 6:13 pm I can't remember how it came up, but I discovered the other day that one of the grads at work had never seen a keep fit window winder
A kid at work didn't know the phrase this time next year we'll be millyonaires. When we said y'know from only fools and horses he replied, never seen it but I think my Dad used to watch it!

Re: Can't catch a brake
I've only seen one or two episodes of Only Fools and Horses. I did however watch most of Carla Lane's Bread which is probably just as bad.Taipan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 12:01 pmmy Daughters boyfriend inherited his GrandDads MG BGT.
