Couldn't you just wear two masks in case you meet someone not wearing one?Count Steer wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:38 am No problem with wanting to be left alone, if you are alone then wearing a mask doesn't matter. Does it have to be just running fitty fatty training courses?
I spend a lot of my time reducing the risks that people are exposed to, so am I allowed to wear a mask?

Again, another assumption: that I challenge people over mask wearing.
For many years, I spent a large part of my free time (often several evenings a week and whole weekends) 'working' for free. That often involved challenging their beliefs and actions.

Well, nil fitty classes or Weightwatchers obvs - I'm neither a physio nor a dietician and don't have any employees to keep off the sick. I'm not much motivated into helping to deal with lifestyle issues at all tbh.Potter wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 12:29 pmNo indeed, that's why I asked you how many you did.Count Steer wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 12:24 pm
Also, you have absolutely no idea how I spend/have spent my time, money and whatever leverage I can get on anything beyond this board.

I never could see the logic of one mask good, two masks better until now. I think the logic is similar to one and two paper baggers, but I suspect this forum isn't an appropriate place to expand on this.Saga Lout wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 2:00 pmI never could see the logic of one mask good, two masks better until now. I didn't say 'I don't care a fig' I said 'not much motivated to help' and there are only so many things a chap can do. I just prefer to 'help' with stuff that isn't about lifestyle choices. You choose otherwise. *shrug*.Potter wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 2:36 pmCount Steer wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 1:58 pm

If you literally don't care a fig about people dying from other things that you could easily help them with....

So, just for completeness: how much of your free time do you put into your fitty fatty courses and how long-term effective are they?

Re: In todays news...
How long have you been posting? No-one has ever waited for permission before! However, I don't know why you think that I would (well, not in this particular instance). Yet another assumption.
I first got involved with bike training in 1980, typically putting in (then) 6 hours a week, but at other times since it was far more, several evenings a week and, as well as whole days, several weekends each year (longest continuous stint was 13 very long days, not bad for a hobby). Obviously, I wouldn't have kept doing it for decades if I didn't think it was beneficial. And there have been times when I've been out with riders plenty better than me.
Like I said, a lot of my current work is to keep people alive longer by reducing the risk they're exposed to, also improving the quality of working life, reducing or eliminating what someone called 'dull dirty and dangerous' work. Sometimes, like the bike training, involving having discussions with people, on things that they might not want to hear.
So can wear a mask now?

And obviously the people you run these courses for aren't overweight and in one of the highest risk groups as far as Covid is concerned?Potter wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:46 amThis is the hypocritical stuff I'm on about, you've gone through your whole life turning a blind eye to all sorts of misery and death because it suited you, but now you want to talk about saving lives because it's fashionable.Count Steer wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 10:38 am No problem with wanting to be left alone, if you are alone then wearing a mask doesn't matter. And now you're telling me I'm all about me? Tell me, how many courses do you put on to help people get fit? How many healthy eating courses? How many anti-smoking courses?
I run at least one of each, three of some, and two I run them personally, as in leading exercise or training people, for no other reason than I want people to live healthier lives. Wearing masks is not as important as any of those in the grand scheme of things.

Agree with you, there's a bloke spending time doing something positive and the armchair keyboard bandits try to diss him. Fucking pathetic.

Re: In todays news...
The problem I have with the return to mandated mask wearing is the government is imposing a loss of liberty based on, at best, specious data.
The loss of liberty may only be slight but I fear that it is a start of a slippery slope.
There is no arguement that ffp3 masks, fitted properly, fresh with every wearing, only touched by freshly washed hands before wearing and so on, do give a provable reduction in the transmission of covid in a clinical setting.
But there is no validated data which proves that the wearing of ill fitting, not ffp3, dirty, reused and so on masks has any impact on transmission in a non clinical environment.
And the vast majority of masks I see being worn are definitely NOT ffp3, fitted correctly, clean, used once etc.
If masks, with the type and condition not being mandated, are so critical in managing the transmission rate why is that the infection rates in Scotland and Wales, where mask wearing has been mandatory all alongt, are the same, or higher, as in England?
Mask wearing smacks to me of being an easy action to take by the government; it doesn't cost the treasury anything and it appeals to a certain set of voters.
As it stands I'm not sure that I will be complying with the legislation.

Its also a way of communicating "this is getting more serious" perhaps more effective than simply saying "this is getting more serious".
I already noticed in the shop today that people were standing further apart in the queue for example.

Are you only wearing a fresh, closely fitted, ffp3 mask, only touched by freshly washed hands every time you wear a mask?weeksy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 8:42 pmDeffo, that's it.
