I'm amazed that GT, one of the MTB founding companies and who were everywhere in the 90's, only have 0.56% market share!
I'd not read too much into the emtb related data and comments as the law regarding emtb's is different in the US to the UK/Europe and also differs markedly from state to state. In some states emtb's cannot share the same trails as normal emtb's and the environmental action groups out there have got a real bee in their bonnet about them and want them banned from national parks and the like.

Re: Interesting pinkbike article on ownership/purchase etc
I think GT went down the wrong R&D path with their "idrive" concept and never really recovered from that. A shame as their single speed steel frames rode really well and a Peace 29er will sell for silly money on eBay "if" one ever appears.
The Americans are an odd lot, they have all that space and land and then don't let you ride or want you to ride in the wide open spaces. Though MTBers don't do themselves any favours, a few years ago there was an unofficial trail through a Marines training area, the Marines put up signs advising that they would not take any further cheeky riding which the MTBers ignored and then found themselves stopped at gunpoint and treated rather directly by a lot of shouty, well armed Marines and a direct trip to court and a huge fines and seized bikes.

"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."
