Looks like there will be an RC890 after all, had to be on the cards of course with them being allowed into Supersport - Jezza spotted out testing an 890 powered sportsbike

Surprised this didn't get more take-up in the discussions. Sure it's only the pre-production version but surely it ticks a fair few boxes for people over here ? Lightweight sportsbike with full electronics and 110bhp give or take... that's GOT to be a cracking thing for some.

I reckon it'd make a good trackbike for someone like me. But only if I had the cash for a track only bike cos it'd be too uncomfy for the road and only if I was buying new and getting rid after 2 years. So it wouldn't make any sense for me at all. I'm still pissed KTM can't sort their shit out cos I'd really like a 790 and they are reasonably priced. But I just want an easy ownership bike.

I'm not convinced that the 790/890 is any worse than any other KTM for issues and I think you might be worrying too much- yes you may get a slight oil weep from gearbox sprocket seal or cambox etc, or if you're unlucky, an electrical gremlin, but I think you'd be very unlucky to get something serious that would cost you money or leave you stranded
I'm not Mr high-milage but I did put 6-7k miles on my 790 before I sold it and had no issues- the riding experience of them outweighs it for me, go on, do it
