Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?

Thats exactly what I was expecting but so far 1 of the 6 of us has tested +. I was really expecting to get it given the circumstances

I have been doing Lateral Flow Tests every day as I have to visit vulnerable people. I've been pinged twice, PCR's show I am negative. I am triple jabbed and have so far avoided any infection. Even though quite a few of my colleagues have tested positive (PCR) and have to isolate for the required time. A lot has to be said for using alcohol gel frequently and being sensible about how we are conducting our services etc. Still stressful at times as we have a duty of care. I've recently had a big funeral and two large Church services which required me to be present with many congregation members.

The verification of vaccination/test status at the Brixton O2 tonight was a joke. Didn't even make a pretence of looking at either of our phones.

I stand before you ready to die of the 'Rona, though I have to say Easy Life were on fucking form tonight. Worth it.

When we go out for a meal we are meant to scan a QR code on entry. The wife seems to think taking a picture if the code is scanning it. Still its more effort than i would bother with.

Wife's i-phone detects QR code in camera, and scans it properly. My clunky old Android doesn't, and doesn't have a QR scanner. I have several photos of QR codes.

Booked my booster for Friday. Straight after school and will almost certainly be going by bike - might leave it a bit longer than 15 mins before I set off for home!! LOL

Booster I just walked straight out and drove home.

I had no ill effects from the first two. And if I was in a car, I'd not worry so much. Just being (over) cautious cos I'll have appros 45-50 mins ride up the mountain afterwards!!!

Well I'm boosted. Don't think she even made me wait 15 mins to be fair (but it was lunchtime and I had been a few mins late getting there!!)

Had to deal with the reception dragon whose first comment was "exactly why are you eligible for the booster right now?" Answer as always was "cos I'm fat and old"!!! Even though she had the previous paperwork and the prescription for the first one from the Doc explaining he was happy for me to have it cos of the BMI she still checked my age - twice TBF it's kinda flattering that no one believes I'm old enough to need the jab but I'm quite happy to have to argue that sometimes. But I might start lying about my age now!! LOL

I did faff about a bit before I went riding home and also stopped for fuel, so that took a bit more time

No effect at all so far. Yesterday or today. I kinda forgot about it today till I was talking with a friend in the valley!!

Anyway - so far I haven't seen and boosted effects on wifi or mobile signal, so maybe it's boosted my co-ordination so I don't fall over so much!! LOL

I have sojourn to Paris booked for me, Mrs. G, Gremlinette and her girlfriend in December. What are the odds of either our govt. of the French govt. pulling down the shutters on forrin travel before we get there?

Me and my family have been over the Channel a lot since the Summer - my gut feeling is that borders will remain open given the processes in place for travel backed by proof of vaccine or neg. testing.
I have family arriving on the 19th Dec, I'm not unduly worried.

What does the great and good think of 'Covid passports' as a bit of carrot and stick to get the ditherers to get themselves jabbed? Initially I'd have been a bit anti, but I'm coming around to thinking I'd support the idea. In Italy you had a choice - test every day or get jabbed, or sit outside and eat or drink. Also applied to gyms and intercity travel (but not hotels, but does apply to gyms in hotels, which I couldn't figure).

I'm not sure how you police an 'unjabbed only' lockdown and making a vaccine compulsory might be a step too far, but appeal to people's desire to sit in a warm pub and enjoy a drink, now if that ain't an incentive, I don't know what is.

We are also starting to see increasingly more unvaccinated patients. Currently, about 60% of our ICU patients have not received a single jab and, as a result, some of them are very sick indeed. Until recently, across the country, the proportion of unvaccinated people being admitted to hospital had been falling. Back in May, roughly 70% of patients who were hospitalised following infection with COVID-19 were unvaccinated but by the end of October, this figure had dropped to 35%. This is hardly surprising as the number of people who have been vaccinated has been steadily increasing over time.

I'm in favour. But it only works if it's policed. Over here they enforce it by threatening fines.

Busy touristy places (presumably they 'get a visit' often from the authorities) are a ballache all round because they're constantly scanning covid passes. Other, smaller, local places have it easier because once they recognise you they don't bother asking for your pass on subsequent visits.

On the whole it seems to be working ok

I doubt the French will want to close the borders. If the government does that, then they'll have to financially support the ski resort businesses again. I don't think that's viable (not sure it ever was)

Currently we are expected to be masked in lift queues and in cable cars (cable cars are the worst place I think, unless cold kills the virus, which I don't think it does!). We have a requirement for the Pass Sanitaire in local restos and bars (the most recently opened one was very hot on it when we went there the other day, so I reckon most will start that way - hopefully).

The interesting bit will be Après. I suspect that if cases rise the numbers in bars will be limited. I can't see me going to the one that is likely to be the main one for seasonaires, but I'm not a fan of busy places even with great music. The couple of outdoor places I guess will keep going, but again, I can't most of us going to them unless with watch from the edges - they are usually heaving with people and even outside I don't think being that close with loads of drunk people is ideal!!!


If the borders do close there will be a lot more businesses closing down and a lot of us in even worse dire straits
