Desk, car, motorbike, cycle??

On my MTB, quadlock.

Expensive but I haven't had my phone bouncing down the trail in front of me unlike it did with the previous holder.

Car, a generic cheap plastic thing

On my bike, nothing, don't fancy shagging the OIS on a phone that costs not a million miles of a grand.
For sure folk like Quad Lock (use in car) do a dampened version but I'm seeing mixed reviews

Personally I can't think of any time where I would need to see the phone.

I've got the ultimate addons waterproofing case but don't use it much now. Got this one and it charges your phone. Holds phone solid, good for satnav apps.

SP Connect for the motorbikes. Reasonably secure with a lanyard. The waterproof cover works well but bear in mind that I'm using it on an RT or a GS, never tried it on the MT-09.

I prefer Ultimate Addons though, the case feels a lot more protective and waterproof but they don't make a specific case for my phone - I can buy a universal case but it's not as useable.

Previously, Brodit powered cradles in both the car and the bike for my Sony Xperia Z5C - excellent cradles that 'just work'.
In the car it was on a Brodit car-specific mount. (I used this setup in the van for my travelling too - it was excellent, and after-market service from Brodit is good too).
On the bike it's on a custom-made mount I knocked up from old bits and pieces - with a fair bit of rubber in the mountings to reduce vibrations to the phone. In addition I added a 'spring-plate' to the cradle to stop the phone sliding out. Note: the Brodit cradles are NOT designed for 'external' use - but the ARE capable - the only issue I ever have with the power connection was fluff building up in the socket on the phone! (ie NOT a cradle issue).

Currently - with new phone (Ulephone Armor 8 Pro) I'm using a cheapy lightweight cradle in the car which 'does the job', but is cheap and nasty.
(for reference: ).

So far I haven't got around to sorting out a solution for the bike because I'm not riding much, if at all. (but I still have the Z5C and 4G hotspot with data-only sim if I really need on-bike navigation in the near future).
Brodit appear to have reduced the amount of 'phone-specific' cradles (I can't blame them), but have developed 'adjustable' cradles and I may go for one of these for the bike.

Maybe I could try that. Is there a knack to it?

Pocket.

Don't forget to zip up the pocket so your phone doesn't drop out in the middle of the road.

Like I didn't do.

Apple recommend you don't attach your iPhone to a high power or high volume engined motorcycles.

I wouldn't put my phone on my bike as I've seen so many come off and they don't bounce well. It's not just the quality of the phone mount, but the attention to detail when putting it in the mount and remembering to check it's secure.

I have a satnav mounted on the bike - I've seen a few of them fly off and they can survive a tumble although you have to find them first.

Now Satnag mounts are a totally different kettle of fish.

I've got one of these on the KRS, proving a RAM/Ball mount for the standard TomTom mount.

I thought mounting it on the res cover was dead clever.

When i used the phone for navigation it was in "twistyride" case like this one attached to a RAM mount on the bar.

I got it as a hand me down from E-Man who got it from Abel as each got new phones that didnt fit it ....... did the job nicely and was waterproof while allowing the phone to be charged. I still have it but dont really use it now as i stick phone in pocket and bluetooth to headset in the helmet and use a proper bike sat nav for longer trips
