The wife's new (to her) Ovlov has gone back the independent dealers for them to fit a new EGR.

She doesn't need an automatic, but prefers them.

The auto loan car they've given her is a 98k mile Kia Soul.

She is not amused.

THat's one advantage of getting your car serviced at a franchise dealer....they give you a courtesy car which is better than your own, hoping to tempt you into a trade in :D

Many years ago when I had my old R53 Mini Cooper S serviced at the local BMW/Mini stealership they gave me a 116i. Fuck me it was slow.

Last time I got my 320d serviced they gave me a 335d X-drive....that was an epic road car, absolutely brilliant. Anywhere, any gear, just plant your foot and it fucks off!

Still didn't trade up.

If I took the SL for a proper MB service they'd take one look at me hand over the keys to an A180.

I don't seem to be the typical SL owner, I was ignored by the salesmen when I went to get my free dongle thing installed.

Back in the day, there were clues to money walking into a showroom, double cuffs, pinky ring, polished leather shoes etc. Nowadays the nouveau riche look like tattooed oiks!

I've added 'LEVC taxi technician' to my endless list of talents.

My mate has one of these new-fangled leccy taxis. Apparently they have this glitch that, although not recommended by the service people, requires the battery in the boot to be disconnected for 10 minutes to reboot the software. This totally shuts down the taxi's electrics. The boot is opened electronically, I should add, and thus needs to be kept open whilst the battery is disconnected and then reconnected.

Can you guess what my mate did? Yep. Shut the boot by force of habit.

Luckily he also knew another mumble-swerve, confirmed grudgingly by the dealer on the phone, which meant we connect up my little Merc to the live terminal under the bonnet (how many batteries in this bloody thing?) and engine block via jump leads, which creates a circuit, allowing him to open the boot again, reconnect the battery and all was well. The other alternative was a tow back the dealer, disassemble the rear seats to get to the 'hidden release' (why the fuck is it hidden and needing the rear seats removed?) which would have cost him over £100.

This week I have been both the receiver of a favour (my HG textiles being mended free) and giver of a favour. Truly, the spirit of karma flows through us all. Namaste, brothers. :1

Common problem on a lot of cars with the battery in the boot. My e93 has a key release but the later ones don't and there has been quite a few people that have done what yer mate did!

Today I have been feeling like a teenager. After tough 3 hour enduro ride, we stopped for the usual butties and a bottle of beer. We took the scenic route home and when we split up, I took the long way home taking in some more fun bits. I was feeling so good and having so much fun, I didn't want it to stop.
4.5 hours in total :)

I doubt I'll be able to do so much when I reach proper retirement age.

This is the room where the TV used to be.

So to watch Motogp,I'm relegated to the spare room with the dish cables coming in through the window and on a tiny little screen. Luxury.

Sitting in an American Werewolf in London type pub drink pints of Gem, one of @G.P favourite beers.
It's a strange place but my lad is playing pool with the locals and one of the guys has a Rossi hoody on so we've been talking bikes. He's got a GPZ900, a carb R1 and a snotter.

Ventured into the loft, or Mousetropolis as it may be known. Got 4 rolls of new insulation up there, 4 to go. Ordered some pipe insulation and a 'brighter than the sun' rechargeable work lamp. Tried out my new boiler suit and gel knee pads. Got to get more loft legs, loft boards and a shed load more insulation.

Tomoz is jab top up and collect goodies from Screwfix. Remove any new 'guests' from the loft. :D

Munched on a bacon butty from the local bakers, took the dogs for a walk in some local woodlands and despite the pissing rain it was pretty damn good. Daughters French Bulldog trots along happily and our Bull Lurcher thing runs around us like a slightly baffled heat seeking missile. Best part of the day.
And now, I'm sitting on the sofa while we watch Locke and Key with granddaughter and the dogs are asleep in front of the wood burning stove thats burning offcuts that someone else has paid for.

Back on vaccination car park duties and had the booster and flu jabs at the end of play. Pfizer this time so I'm hoping for fewer side effects.

Had my third jab yesterday, Pfizer as well, all good, no side effects at all. TV signal is better though.

Not died, or been horrifically maimed in a firework related incident. Win.
