Think about what you will be doing in there. I think you’ll be more woodworkery rather than car/bike tinkery?

Saw table
Some sort of wood turner
Pillar drill
Band saw/scroll saw
Planer
Belt sander

Car stuff will be limited to the odd set of discs and pads and other similar items otherwise the cars just go to the man.

Got table saw, track saw, router table, mitre saw, bench mortiser, various hand held power tools. Possibly would look at planer / thicknesser rather than lathe as next big tool purchase. Dust extraction is probably first additional thought.

I’m tempter by a bora caterpillar bench though

Not as much access granted but a hell of a lot less likely to wake up with an upside down car on top of you.
YouTube is full of them

A nipping in light, just a small lamp in the middle to save turning on all the lights when you just need to nip in for something. Less important since LEDs came along I'll grant you.

Got to be well insulated and well lit.
All the Stuff that goes in a garage is pretty easy to get but the hardest and most expensive part to get is clear floor space.

Tony Stark's work shop from Iron Man, complete with a Jarvis and the two robotic arms with the slight attitude problem.

Just a couple of sawstools and two 8' lengths of 2x2 across them lengthways then four bits of 2x2 at about 4' long.
Its what I've been using for my tracksaw for years, can fit my extractor under it and if I forget to change the depth of cut on my saw I only knacker a bit of 2x2.

If you're only doing powertool stuff you don't generally need a heavy bench but of your doing much with handtools I reckon a good heavy bench is really handy.

The plan is to slot celotex (or similar) between the webbed joists leaving air gap above for ventilation and space for ladders etc below. Joists are 300mm deep so plenty of space. Sadly it’ll be an imperfect thermal solution unless I sacrifice the between joist storage and celotex board over the whole lot.

Lighting will be LED throughout with greater concentration of light over a solid work bench and over centre floor space where power tools will be used.

Most people cut cellotex tight so they have to bray it into place, firing dust and cack all over the place then its still not perfect.
Personally I cut it a few mm too small, hold it in place with nails then squirty foam all round it so its well sealed and doesn't rattle about.
Plus I'm not covered in dust during the process.
