Precis - Man has his identity stolen. The perpetrator then sells the bloke's house. Police initially aren't interested.
Just read this somewhere else. Amazed that the new owner legally owns the house. Does that apply to other stolen goods? What happened to caveat emptor?

Suspect there's more to it than what's in the news. Maybe someone was renting it? How did they get a duplicate driving licence delivered to a different address etc?

My parents had a similar issue, their house bordered a local golf course and the golf course sold part of my parents land to a developer. It happened before they moved in and only came to light when the people opposite decided to build an access road across land in my parents deeds.
Shockingly the answer was tough shit and the golf course faced no consequences.

Strewth! Whenever an estate agent has sent us to look at places with shared access we've walked away as soon as it's come to light. But your parent's issue is a whole new level. I guess the golf course timed everything so that nothing showed up on the original searches...ooh...I'd be paraquating the greens.

When she isn't flying...
As far as I am aware she doesn't fly
The professional skippers they fly in and out to captain the boats she goes on do though :D
The number of youngsters she's influenced enough to put the green squeeze on their parents I'd say she's got some carbon offset in the bank.

The local school (annual day fees pa £35k) used to be a parade of Range Rovers/yummy mummies every morning...now it's big sunnies mummies transporting smug looking kids in BMW i3s

A car always remains the property of the rightful owner. Surely same with a house ?

On his way from attending a conference on reducing carbon emissions.

On his way to the airport where a fleet of C-130s awaits.

You couldn’t make it up.

It's probably a feint. Everyone, including the baddies, think he's in there. Meanwhile he's in an Uber on the back roads. :D

But the issue is less about who is doing what (we know) less about "offset carbon tax" (a complete sham) and not even about "making them pay". It is all about stopping it from happening.
This is the sort of nonsense we get from current carbon accounting:

'Burning wood is the electricity sector’s second largest CO2 emitter after fossil gas.
Drax is the UK’s largest single source of CO2 emissions.
etc etc
These emissions are not counted in the UK’s emissions inventory – burning wood is treated as ‘carbon neutral’, despite evidence to the contrary.'

Because the biomass/wood is made from trees and imported (with all the associated emissions) the CO2 output, (millions of tonnes of it) aren't 'our' emissions, or even nett emissions. Surely, if you burn something, you should be responsible for the CO2. It all seems like bizarre, magical thinking, the CO2 is still being pumped into the atmosphere, but somehow, it 'doesn't count'?

The two limos at the front are identical - they even have identical numberplates. It does make me wonder if they ever pull up in the wrong car :D

It kind of makes sense, if I grow a tree in my garden and then burn it in my fireplace I've only released as much CO2 as I took out of the air. They are hiding fossil fuels used for transport and if the country exporting the trees is claiming carbon credits then they will be double counting.

EIGHT INCH THICK armour plating all round.

That’s not a car, it’s a tank dressed up to look like a limo. Bet it weighs over 3 tons. (Let’s ask Google….)

<edit> well yes and no. It is over 3 tons but it is a LONG way over! Six to eight tons!! Guess we’ll just have to wait for him to die of old age. Won’t be long.

They had an awkward incident with ground clearance when they brought one to Dublin a few years ago.

They're all as bad as each other .............

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/ ... -31-miles/

Ursula Von der Leyen has been accused of contributing to a “climate disaster” after using private jets on more than half of her overseas missions, including short hops to London and Paris.

The European Commission president even jetted to Glasgow for the Cop26 environment summit, which she has called a “moment of truth” for the future of the planet’s battle against climate change.

An analysis by the Telegraph reveals the EU’s top official ordered “air taxis” for 18 out of her 34 official trips since taking up the role in December 2019, on a pledge to turn the bloc carbon-neutral by 2050.

The shortest of the journeys was a 31-mile hop between Vienna and Bratislava, as part of Mrs von der Leyen’s tour of European capitals to sign off on their coronavirus recovery plans, according to a senior Commission official.

bastards........
