What's the bike your history says you should have owned, but haven't....

I've had an RT an an R but never a GS. Which is strange because I'v always preferred the GS.

The only big trail bikes I've owned were a Caponord and a V-Strom, both of which were pretty flawed.

The only thing they do 'differently' to the RT or the R is the higher, more upright riding position. (pretty much).

Mostly whatever I've wanted I've managed to own at some stage. One notable exception is a Kawasaki triple,but I'm not dead yet.

I was offered an H1 with a 750 engine about 40 years ago but I didn't have the £150 he wanted for it. I nearly bought a new ZX9 about 20 years ago, Cradley Heath Kawasaki were doing some really good deals but I wanted a green one...

I had a GSXR1000 K3 at the time I had a run on a Busa and the riding position on the Busa felt more cramped for me than the K3. Quite high pegs on the Busa,which I suppose you could alter if your heart was set on one.

I thought my K3 was more fun to ride. I was quite disappointed because I loved my ZZR1100,so thought I'd be a shoe in for the Hairybusa.

The K4 was just so easy to go incredibly fast on, it was like an RGV crossed with an ICBM, it made 170mph a daily occurrence.

Lots of couriers had VT500s. I tried one for a couple of hours, really didn't like it at all. The nail in the coffin was the inaccessibility of the top of the engine, plus the enclosed disc. Stuck with my CB250 singles

I suppose at some point I should have had a Harley, well, just because, like Everest, they're there. Some things you just have to try. Would have liked to try a Buell to, just for a weekend maybe. Always fancied a Boxer Cup job too.

The closest I got was with an R12ST...the bike with looks only a mother could love.

They looked and sounded epic and I profoundly regret not buying one.
