A BMW boxer GS.
I've had an RT an an R but never a GS. Which is strange because I'v always preferred the GS.
The only big trail bikes I've owned were a Caponord and a V-Strom, both of which were pretty flawed.

The only thing they do 'differently' to the RT or the R is the higher, more upright riding position. (pretty much).Asian Boss wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 3:13 pm A BMW boxer GS.

There's no bike I missed out on. But maybe should have bought an enduro bike earlier in life.
Re: What's the bike your history says you should have owned, but haven't....
I was offered an H1 with a 750 engine about 40 years ago but I didn't have the £150 he wanted for it. I nearly bought a new ZX9 about 20 years ago, Cradley Heath Kawasaki were doing some really good deals but I wanted a green one...
I've still never owned a Kawasaki

I suppose it's odd I've never owned a Busa, when I got the chance to buy one, I'd been through a succession of CBR1000Fs so I didn't fancy another big long sports tourer, albeit one that was rocket powered.
I nearly bought a GSXR1000K8, but tried one in the shop and practically had to be helped off it. Looked in the corner and saw a K1200R Sport and the rest is history.

I had a GSXR1000 K3 at the time I had a run on a Busa and the riding position on the Busa felt more cramped for me than the K3. Quite high pegs on the Busa, which I suppose you could alter if your heart was set on one.Bigjawa wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 8:12 pm I suppose it's odd I've never owned a Busa, when I got the chance to buy one, I'd been through a succession of CBR1000Fs so I didn't fancy another big long sports tourer, albeit one that was rocket powered.

I thought my K3 was more fun to ride. I was quite disappointed because I loved my ZZR1100,so thought I'd be a shoe in for the Hairybusa.

I loved riding my mates K4, but I never wanted one at the time because I didn't have self control so I reckon I would have been dead or in jail.

I think that applies to a Busa too.

The K4 was just so easy to go incredibly fast on, it was like an RGV crossed with an ICBM, it made 170mph a daily occurrence.

The more I think about it, the more I'll come up with! But, quickly, off the top of my head...
Kawasakis; any of the triple 2 strokes. Original Z900.
Ducatis; M900 Monster. Hypermotard. Diavel X
Moto Guzzi California T3.
Yamaha MT-10.

Lots of couriers had VT500s. I tried one for a couple of hours, really didn't like it at all. The nail in the coffin was the inaccessibility of the top of the engine, plus the enclosed disc. Stuck with my CB250 singles

Curious, how was the Capo flawed?Asian Boss wrote: ↑Mon Nov 01, 2021 3:13 pm The only big trail bikes I've owned were a Caponord and a V-Strom, both of which were pretty flawed.

I suppose at some point I should have had a Harley, well, just because, like Everest, they're there. Some things you just have to try. Would have liked to try a Buell to, just for a weekend maybe. Always fancied a Boxer Cup job too.

An R90S would be cool too,but not an orange one.Count Steer wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 2:39 pm I suppose at some point I should have had a Harley, well, just because, like Everest, they're there. My local bike shop started selling these in 98 (or thereabouts)...
They looked and sounded epic and I profoundly regret not buying one.
