I can get it in the same way i got the ZX10R and the recent Yamahas, but i wouldn't buy a bike with that scheme for a single second.

You know what irritates me the most though, the ride footrest assembly... couldn't be more out of place with the overall look of the bike !

I dislike the orange reflectors on the front forks. I'd hope they're easy to remove without trace.

My favourite mainstream (i.e. not including RC30s and the like) Japanese superbike, by far. This special edition one needs some fairing holes though ;)


"Fireblade" just sounds like a superbike too :D Not like soem random alphanumeric code.

I had a 919 Blade, peaky thing which I never got on with and I much preferred my ZX9R. I did secretly covert my mates Blade, a 954, but could never really get the sportsbike thing. This one looks like a shellsuit and it can fuck right off. :thumbup:

Side reflectors are not a legal requirement for motorcycles in the UK. Authority -Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 (as amended)

Probably just an international markets thing. I.e. it's cheaper to fit them to all models rather than only some.

IIRC the 954 was the lightest one so far, lighter than even the latest one.

Paint was really thin on them, not the usual Honda quality.

The original Blade was awesome looking back in 1992. That looks like Dolly Parton in a school uniform. Just wrong.

The first Blade was memorable because it was a ground breaker. I remember it as light,fast and twitchy. That was when it first came out. I rode the same model about 10 years ago and it just felt tame compared my 04 10R. Time moves on.

The 954 was a great road bike,surprisingly comfortable for a sportsbike.

The last Blade I rode was an 05 model,it was typically Honda,good build quality and easy speed,but I wanted it as much as a new kitchen appliance. It never seemed to give any warning of impending disasters and in some ways that made me a little uncomfortable,always wondering if you actually even get a warning.
As it turned out I was sitting behind a mate when he was riding it,a nasty old lowside on a righthander. The bike went up a bank and barrel rolled to destruction,forks ripped off,wheels smashed,nothing much of value left aside from the engine. He had no clue what happened. The only moment I had following him was not running him over.

I had the same experience with the R1, they were a bit bonkers when they first came out and I’ve owned them throughout the years but what I found funny was a few years back I was riding a friends race R1 and it was so slow, I had my 1299s that day on track which was bonkers, the R1 I could relax and take everything in.

Has any Honda, not including their specific race bikes, had the 'crazy' gene? They've always been the 'sensible' choice iirc.
