Where's the carpet? The painted walls? The snap on tool cabinets?

Tool cabinets are Halfords, out of shot the other way, and over flowing with tools and stuff, no carpet, it attracts damp, and no painted walls because decorating isn't my thing.

That's the tidy end, no one is seeing the other end.

The Z is waiting for the 50mm fork extensions that are being made for it so it has some ground clearance. Dug out my 33mm Smooth Bores the other day and found they're the rather rare Kawasaki spacing rather than the more common Suzuki spacing, might fit them, they're a better fitment for the Z engine than the flatslides it currently has, they're really meant for early GSXRs

I really like it, but I was expecting a bigger difference to a 30 year old similar bike.

I thought the same when I bought my 675R,the Street Triple's superior at most things but there's something about those old FZ750's.I'll never sell mine..

I really like it, but I was expecting a bigger difference to a 30 year old similar bike.

I thought the same when I bought my 675R,the Street Triple's superior at most things but there's something about those old FZ750's.I'll never sell mine..

They're surprisingly good for a 1985 design, the GSX is better at everything, but it's not a massive difference.

Anyway I'm waiting for the roads to dry so I can go out on it this afternoon, picked up the handbook this morning, found out the traction control cuts power if the front wheel lifts, which means I'm not as crap at wheelies as I thought.

I've been back over this thread and I think you made a cracking decision in the end (if my opinion counts for anything).
You could spend years fannying around looking at specs and deciding what to do, but you saw something, liked it and bought it.

Get out on it as much as you can and enjoy it for what it is.

This is part of what appeals about the GSX for me. Other bikes might be a bit better, but the GSX is cheaper and good enough for me. It'll work, have no issues and isn't too flash that I'll worry about it so I'll use it more. It's a bit UJM but yanno I quite like them, it's what I grew up with and they are bloody good at what they do

Fucking fantastic bike, best bike I've ever owned, best wet weather bike I've ever ridden, traction control is hysterical, you can launch it in first like you're at Santa Pod and it just drives forward, no wheel spin, no wheelies, just the traction control light going spastic. Handling is fantastic now I've dropped the pre load to no. 2. (though apparently this only changes the ride height ) ABS earnt it's keep as well when someone decided to stop suddenly for no reason I could see

Took it out to Lowestoft and back, 80 miles of moist A12, it was great, really fucking great, Mofo calling it a UJM sums it up, it's fun like the original 4 cylinder Z650, but about a million times better, it's how we thought our bikes were in the deluded mid 80s.

Had a little bit of a race with an MT09, the GSX was just as quick, but I was revving the knackers off it through the gears, it could do with a screen or fairing.
