Speaking Speedo Android App
Does anyone use an app that tells you your speed while riding, my new bike has a speedo that I have to look down to see, I'd like an app that tells me how fast I'm going every minute or so - it'd be best if I can change this time to what I want.

Virtual Pillion app...
"You're going too fast"
"Why did you do that?"
"Can we stop soon, I need a wee"

Don't most bikes have speedos that you have to look down to see? I don't think I've ever had one that the speedo has been constantly in my vision.
Surely a quick glance down is more preferable to waiting 2 or 3 minutes to be told what speed you are doing.

Must admit I'm not seeing the difference? Surely you have to look down at all bikes speedos? And compared to an FZ the GSXS will have a digital speedo which I always find clearer.

I never speak openly about the wearing of Speedos.

The FZ's is high up, the GSX's is IMO very low, I don't want to be looking down there at the speedo when I should be looking where I'm going, us old fossils need all the help we can get.
On the subject of digital speedos and rev counters, I'm not a big fan, I like a needle sweeping round a dial, on the GSX I'll just change up at the rev limiter

Re: Speaking Speedo Android App
Some are worse than others. On all three of my bikes they are reasonably high up, and just a flick of the eyes away. On the MT-07, I had to lower my head to see, then squint at the too-small display.

I think you're looking for a problem and solution that doesn't exist.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 10:29 am Does anyone use an app that tells you your speed while riding, my new bike has a speedo that I have to look down to see, I'd like an app that tells me how fast I'm going every minute or so - it'd be best if I can change this time to what I want.
If you're keeping up with cars, you're about right, if you're passing them at warp speed then you're deffo speeding. It won't matter if it's 70/50 or 85/50 , both are way enough.

Have you tried the RNIB site? Driver aids for the partially sighted.

Re: Speaking Speedo Android App
I think your best bet is an aftermarket speedo with large numbers that you can read clearly. Anything else doesn't sound that safe.

I once convinced my mate that parking spaces marked with slightly raised bricks were so that blind drivers knew where to park.Count Steer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 6:50 pm Have you tried the RNIB site? Driver aids for the partially sighted.

What about taping an old smart phone on a selfie stick, running a GPS Speedo app, to my crash helmet as a Heads Up Display?

I thought you'd bought a 750, not a 75cc. Once a minute won't be much use if you're acceleratingLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 10:29 am Does anyone use an app that tells you your speed while riding, my new bike has a speedo that I have to look down to see, I'd like an app that tells me how fast I'm going every minute or so - it'd be best if I can change this time to what I want.

No, picking it up Saturday, it's paid for and insured, really looking forward to getting it.
