Shrouds or rubber gaiters?

My old K4 Honda had shrouds, which were just metal tubes. When I took them off, the chrome where the suspension moved was OK but the section above it was rusty as f***. Salty air could still get in underneath.

I used to fit rubber gaiters to the all-year despatch bikes that were out in all weathers and rarely cleaned. The gaiters tended to do a much better job, provided the chrome was cleaned and greased from time to time.

They're proper metal shrouds, you can't see any of the chrome stanchions at all, even at the top they're covered by the clock nacell.
