That reminded me of a story my FiL told me years ago. He was working as a ambulance man on an large industrial site in the 70s and was called to a scene where one of the lads threw himself off a pipe bridge with a rope around his neck. He must have changed his mind half way down as some of his fingernails were embedded in the rope where he’d tried to claw his way back up.
How can you stop half way down? Guess he didn't consult the drop tables, didn't break his neck and got bored with just hanging around. So to speak.
The lighter you are, the longer the drop. About 8 feet unless you're overweight which reminds me of another story. Prisoner on death row refused to exercise and stuffed himself with junk food in the long drawn out period before his hanging. Ended up exceeding the statutory limit for execution by hanging because his drop would have only been 3.5 feet! (else they risk decapitation which apparently is inhumane). Eventually he died of old age.

It is surprising to see just how hot and superfluid the lava flow is. On top of that, it appears to be making dark smoke??
How do you get black smoke from a volcano unless something is burning? Do the Canary islands have oil/gas pockets underneath? What happens if hot lava mixes with underground oil or gas deposits anyway?
If there's something weird happening, could go on for years...
Not finding much good news myself though it appears oil and gas mixed with volcanos is actually a thing. Who'da thunk it??
Upshot being this could indeed go on for a very long time, years possibly. During which time, if there are a lot of hydrocarbons being burned up, global warming is going to be affected and we can expect some very long cold winters. Seems counterintuitive to me except possibly the "insulating" effect of a dirty atmosphere can keep things cold just as easily as it keeps them hot. :dunno:
I think it's something to do with particulate matter reflecting sunlight meaning winters get colder /last longer but there's a lot of other stuff getting dumped into the atmosphere and the numbers look gigantic...

Advancing Lava is quite sort of creepy in an almost 1950s B movie way. It just look surreal?1 Apparently won't stop erupting to Decemberish!
I take our guests on a tour of lava fields. They love it.
Well, here's an article that had me slowly shaking my head in wonderment....
I'll summarise:
Some lesbians are being labelled trans phobic as they don't want to have sex with trans women as they say that being lesbian kinda rules out an attraction to willies.

Back in the day, you could choose who you fancied and wanted to dry hump on the basis that they liked A Flock of Seagull's new album and had bobbed hair like the bird from Human League.
Now if you have an objection to having a cock and balls waved in your face you're accused of genital discrimination.

As per my pics in another thread I've recently been trying to learn how to make good Macaron. The recipes always say the correct batter should be the consistency of lava.
Having never seen, handled or cooked with lava I'm really not sure how that comparison helps me.

World's gone fucking mad.
It has.

At least now when a woman in the pub tells you she is a lesbian you can counter that you are a lesbian trans woman and she's not allowed to find you unattractive.
As a bonus Stonewall will take your side.

It's just a silly anti-trans article, this is just because some women don't want to give equal rights to trans people. I think everyone accepts that you shouldn't be forced to have sex with anyone, that's called rape, but I think some people need to decide what they want, you either can discriminate against people based on what's in their underwear, or you can't.
If we can then lets stop talking about gender equality because it won't exist, if we can't then we have to accept trans women as equal to everyone else.
That doesn't mean making laws that you have to shag them, but it does mean that you have to treat them exactly the same as anyone else in a dress - something some women seem very unhappy about.
Years ago some men didn't want gay men allowed into their changing rooms because they were scared they'd get molested or something ridiculous. Now we've got some women that don't want trans women in their changing rooms for the same reasons. It's ridiculous, we're either going to pretend that we're all equal or we're not, I'm not arsed which but I wish they'd hurry up and decide.
That is exactly the point. Trans men wearing dresses does not make them women with the same rights as women for the elementary reason that they are not women, they are trans men. We are all equal but we are not all the same as each other.

Where does that argument stop? You say trans women in dresses are not women so they shouldn’t have the same rights? Others say women in business suits are not men so they shouldn’t have the same rights?
Shall we pretend to be equal and all have the same rights or just go back to white heterosexual men doing whatever they want and stop all this pretending to be equal stuff.
It stops there. Wearing different clothing does not change ones rights.
