My work mate who was with me did his at a walk in centre in St.Pauls, he had to show photo ID to prvoe it was him taking the test. Mine was couriered to my house and I had to post it back. I should have swabbed the dog's arse and sent that back, but knowing my luck at the minute I'd have tested positive for distemper...gremlin wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 11:55 amI'd have done it for ya if you'd asked.derek badger wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 4:51 pm I used Boots for my Day 2 test last week. £68, but it didn't matter as work were paying. Ordered it Friday, turned up Monday. Test done, posted back using NHS priority postbox. Results came back Thursday...and it was positive despite being double jabbed and had Covid about 45 days before the test.
PCR tests are no good if you've had a positive infection in the last 90 days as they will detect the previous remenants, so I've been isolating AGAIN. I see the rules are changing for Oct half-term and you only need to do a lateral flow now.

Blanket terms and conditions in change of employment contract…
Now I’m permanently working from home, my employer has asked me to sign a revision to my contract, fair enough you’d think but they’ve included:
‘You may be required to work on a blended basis at another office within a reasonable distance to your original office on temp or permanent basis but we’ll give you one month’s notice before doing so’
Nearest remaining office from original office is 100 miles from home.
I’m not the only one to query what reasonable distance could be defined as…

Council tax. The previous owner had an extension sometime back and the house was never reassessed. Had a letter to say they have kindly remanded it from D to E and its gone up £500 a year. Great timing with the our gas and electricity supplier going bust and us moving to a higher tariff with the new supplier.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I ordered a gov't mandated 2 day test when I booked my ferry to come back to the UK. Over a week later it hadn't arrived. I emailed them and asked for a refund. They said they couldn't refund me as it was gov't mandated, so they would send again. It's now over 2 weeks since I arrived back in the UK and my test kist still hasn't arrived !gremlin wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 1:18 pm These companies that you're obliged to use for Covid tests when travelling.
When we arrived back from Santorini back in August, two out of the three Day 2 tests we did would not register, i.e. no activation email. When I contacted the company, they eventually replied saying there was a system error their end, try again. Still no joy. After a while I gave up, sent an email to ask for a refund for the two duff ones, nada back. Write it off as pissing in the wind only gets you piss-stained chinos.
Used a different, recommended by a friend, company called Expert Medicals for my recent sojourn. Day 2 test, to be sent by courier in time for my triumphant return from Italy. Or not. Just didn't turn up. The tracking info shows the courier having not received the package, hence, I ain't got it. No reply to email, phone constantly engaged. I suspect most people wouldn't be that bothered, in any real sense, as you've had to fork out anyway so why worry about the actual test part of the equation, so the apathy levels are right up there.
Anyway, it's all going to be consigned to history soon enough, so it's all academic, really. Rant over. Namaste.
For balance, some are ok. The one I've used a few times for Fit-to-Fly is Wren Healthcare and they've always been fine.

I had exactly the same. In the end we settled on being able to claim mileage for the trip.Silly Car wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 12:27 pm Blanket terms and conditions in change of employment contract…

On the subject of eyes...mine.
My distance is getting worserer than ever. I have been prescribed contacts for righty, whilst keeping leftie au naturale to do the reading. Works reasonably well once used to it. I'm told that driving without correctives is just on the legal side, but that was a year ago and I know they're failing fast. I keep a pair of glasses in the car and by the telly, but the other day I used the wife's car at night and no bins were available. Fuck me, there's a shot across the bows from Admiral Age...
As somebody once said to me, 'Getting old is a bastard, but the alternative ain't that appealing either'

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
When you have a proper shave after a few days of louche stubble growing, starting with a good exfoliation to get the mooie nice and smooth, plently of hot water to soften those bristles, lather up, take the razor to the your face and take off all the stubble, rinsing the blade as you go. Then shower and get off all the lather, dry off and then moisturise with a bit of Nivea for Men Sensitive....
Only then, once you're all dressed and ready to face the day, you find a patch you've somehow missed. Fucksticks.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
A week ago I booked my bike in at the bikeshop for yesterday (Friday) for fork seals and 15t sprocket.
On Thursday afternoon I dropped the bike off and was shown that the parts required had arrived.
Late yesterday (Friday) I contacted them to ask if I could pick my bike up today (Saturday).
"I've only just put it on the ramp mate, it'll be ready Monday"
They are good guys in the shop and I won't mention it, I'll just bitch about it here like a kind of therapy and then get on with my life

Fucking scaffolders!
Roof has been complete since 8th October, roofer has chased scaffolding company three times, yet we still have scaffold up…
I’m going to call them and suggest they start paying me storage fees, pop a ladder around so I can add some fairy lights for Christmas, shift it or I’ll find someone to do it for them and pass on the bill.
Wankers!
And don’t get me started on the absentee garage builder…

Being on hold to insurance companies/claims management firms. Spent about 4 hours last week sorting out the payment for the wife's total loss settlement and now I'm in a queue with Devitts for my bike renewal. They want £200, but the same policy got emailed to me from confused.com for £125. Fully comp, Class 1 business use ride other bikes etc. Some good things come from being nearly 50 I guess.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
I was about to leave for Manchester (from Cornwall) when I saw this...
It's argue-able that I was lucky to have spotted it before leaving. It also BMP that I then ended up buying 2 new tyres.
It's also argue-able that as I've been working as a tyre monkey, getting great price helped. However I finally set off for Manchester (2 hours late) and as I reach Exeter, I find out the 'shop' I was going to isn't open on Thursdays and as I've ended up leaving so late, there's no way I'll make it there in time 'today' (Wednesday).
So I didn't need to take 2 days off, I didn't need to go down the road where I picked up the screw and I didn't need to go to Exeter

I wake up to the radio alarm playing Greatest Hits Radio, it's one of those nationwide channels that play regional news and traffic. The breakfast show is done by an Irish chap called Rossy, he's just about bearable, but when he goes on holiday Pat Sharp (of funhouse fame) stands in for him.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Thu Oct 28, 2021 9:37 am Scott Mills sitting in for Ken Bruce for the next week.
