Possibly, there are baffles in the pipes, I don't know whether I'll keep that end pipe or not, it looks narrow for a 750, but I'm used to huge 80s race pipes.

Blimey! I've been lurking to see what would happen. Enjoy

Re: Suggest Bikes for me to buy
I was about to say the same, I had Ixil pipes on my Z750 and they were bloody loud.
Well done on the GSXS cheesy, as I said I suspect I may buy one too. I do also consider the thou, but reckon that's over kill for me.
Have you ridden one yet? I keep meaning to get a test and never get round to it

Re: Suggest Bikes for me to buy
Nope, haven't ridden it, it'll handle better than what I'm used to and the engine will be a lot quicker, I had a 2002 GSXR750, I'm expecting it to ride like that with an upright riding position, but I owned that in 2003, so my memory may be a bit sketchy as to what it was like.
I could have had a test ride if I'd wanted one, but I don't think I'd have got much out of it.
BTW the frame is shaped like the old Suzuki teapot frame.

Re: Suggest Bikes for me to buy
Would have been nice, but it's a bit damp here today so I didn't fancy it, which means it will be pissing down when it's ready, though they'd deliver it in a van for free as the owner of the shop lives near me.Potter wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 12:17 pmLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 11:59 am
Either next weekend or the one after, I'm not in any hurry for it, so I said there's no rush on it...
You're a patient man, if I buy a bike I want to ride home from the showroom on it

Yes, steel frame and swingarm, tbh I find alloy frames a bit lacking in feel and prefer a steel one, ally swing arm would have been nice though, but it is a budget bike, rather than a premium bike like a GSXR, I wonder if a GSXR swing arm bolts straight in?KungFooBob wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 1:13 pm It's steel framed innit, not ally like a proper sports bikes :p

Re: Suggest Bikes for me to buy
It'll probably feel a bit slower than the GSXR, the k5 had 130bhp I think whereas the S has a claimed 112 and tested around 100. Plenty for the road and arguably the extra top end not much use on a naked but in a race the R would be a fair bit faster. The S with no faring will be quick enough though.

A genuine 100 is plenty for me, hopefully they've put more into the mid range

From YouTube they are plenty quick for the road and if I get one it'll definitely be going to Snetterton

It's 20bhp more than I've currently got, and I've never ridden a bike with ABS or traction control

Re: Suggest Bikes for me to buy
ABS operation seems to vary from bike to bike. On the first bike I had with it (2003), it was completely predictable, on another it was an intrusive pain and on some others I don't even remember if it was there! (I assume it was as they were registered after the date it had to be fitted).Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 3:58 pm It's 20bhp more than I've currently got, and I've never ridden a bike with ABS or traction control

Re: Suggest Bikes for me to buy
Before my current bike I'd never owned a bike with ABS. My scooter had it,but the only time it triggered I was glad of it. I went looking for it on the Z1000,so I kinda know where it is. It certainly doesn't get in my way on the road and in my old age I sort of like the idea that it may save a front end tuck.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 3:58 pm It's 20bhp more than I've currently got, and I've never ridden a bike with ABS or traction control

I've liked this, not just because it's an awesome bike, but because it's got a man walking his camel in the background!Potter wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 4:03 am The looks of those GSX things would make me stay away from that end of the shop.
You've got £15k to spend and that GSX is going to feel very ordinary very quickly.
If I were actually going to spend £15k and not just talk about it then it would be on something that felt a bit special. Dragging yourself through purchases of mediocrity when you have the money to do something else is never going to leave you feeling fulfilled.
I bought this, enjoyed it, made some happy memories, sold it, and don't regret a minute of it, every ride and every time I even looked at it felt special.
Anything less than something special is going to leave you feeling half baked.

i saw one of them in the metal and it looked dead wee. Like a Honda CB100N with a big back wheel, the headlight off a Frazer and a load of stickers on it.Potter wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 4:03 am The looks of those GSX things would make me stay away from that end of the shop.
