The riding position in the MT is wrong for me, and I think the handlebars on the new R7 will be too low, but they could be okay, but when it comes down to it I like 4 cylinder motorcycles.I

Looking at what I want it's just a newer mid 90s sports tourer, a brand new FZR600R would be ideal.

Get a GSXS 750 and stick a screen on it or the 1000S and don't look at the front end

Had a look at a blue 750 at lunch time, £6500, been offered a test ride on it when it's been prepped, the looks are a bit challenging, and I'm not sure about the riding position, a good bike though, nicely out together, better than the CBR650, which is a bit budget in places.

There a CBR650 I might have a look at in Mildenhall if the weather is nice tomorrow.

In the last few years this mindset has governed most of my actions. I'm fortunate enough to know exactly what I want,so that part at least is easier.

Figure out what you really want man, whatever the fuck that is and buy the shit out of it.

This is going to sound weird, but the Suzuki GSX-S looks a lot better quality than the Honda CBR650, it's got floating disc, decent calipers and the paint looks better

Generally in tests the GSXS out handles and brakes both the MT09 and Z9. It has less torque but apparently doesn't get left behind either. And they sound like a GSXR should even with the standard pipe. I'm genuinely tempted by one. I loved my 06 model Z750 and this is a more modern better version from the sounds of it so potentially an ideal bike for me. Plus it's not too fancy so I wouldn't be overly precious about it unlike I am with the Duke which in a way appeals. I wanna ride, not pamper bikes ideally.

There are some new ones kicking about pre Reg for £7k if you like the black/grey

This colour in the flesh looks really good IMO the red esp on the wheels really stands out. I was chatting to a bloke in Minehead on one and he'd bought it 3 months before and he loved it. He tested it against the Z9 and didn't think there was much in it at all and he preferred the Suzuki.

That's a deal with diminishing returns.

Mined ewe,how you look after yourself can have a big impact on how long you get to enjoy bikes, but most of it is the lottery of genetics.

I'm fecked on both counts, lack of fitness and poor diet on one side and poor genetics on the other, I doubt if I'll be riding a bike much in ten years time.

Have a word with Dave Solomon
Pretty sure he'd knock you up a bandit engine'd gs lookalike or cb9, so you'd get the look with a decent amount of reliability/poke to boot

I think you're right, most of my really good vehicle purchases have been impulse buys

He undoubtedly is

Cheesy- given what you say you like and don't like, just go and buy one of those GSXs Mofo linked to, I reckon that'll suit you.
And if it doesn't, just chop it for something else unti lyou find it- it's not going to bankrupt you , life's too short to fanny about, you can't take it with you, enjoy it while you can etc eh

Edit:- but for the full experience, Tiepin's spot on- an MT10 is what you really need 8-)
