Being 'insufficiently visible'
According to an article on a new rider safety campaign in Gwent (spectacularly good timing, starting it in late October)...
"In serious collisions where a four-wheeled vehicle is not involved, the cause is usually rider error, including:
Poor road positioning
Being insufficiently visible on the road
Poor judgement of speed into bends"
Talk me through:
1) how something can be 'sufficiently' or 'insufficiently' visible - by definition, something is either visible or it's not
2) how 'being insufficiently visible' is a factor in collisions that DON'T involve another vehicle. I'm genuinely intrigued!

Re: Being 'insufficiently visible'
Pedestrians? Other non 4 wheeled vehicles?
If you're not visible to them, then yeah i can see it. But I'd expect it's more down to a badly written article than an actual reality and the reality is, they don't actually mean that

If a biker crashes in Gwent and there's no one there to witness it, does it make a noise?

Re: Being 'insufficiently visible'
Yes, something 'visible' is in clear line of sight, an unobstructed view. The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 8:39 pm 1) how something can be 'sufficiently' or 'insufficiently' visible - by definition, something is either visible or it's not
They could mean that the driver had a line of sight but had the Sun or headlamps shining in their eyes.
Or they (or, possibly, whoever wrote or rewrote the press release) didn't use the correct terminology.
They could mean, of course, inconspicuous.

Gwent police.
Bad stats, must be seen to be doing/saying something.
Even if what they say is gibberish.

Having dug out a couple of other reports, the gibberish seems to be the reporter trying to add some colour to the story.

Take an English word, write it backwards and chuck in a few extra L's for luck.
And don't call me racist my Grandad was Welsh

PS he tried a YouTube channel, but not many people liked his interpretation of fluffy cat videos

Re: Being 'insufficiently visible'
You are thinking of the Copenhagen interpretation. In the 'Many World' version every colour is visible somewhere, and invisible somewhere else. Even pink day-glo.Hot_Air wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 1:07 pmSimples. Haven’t you heard of Schrödinger’s motorcycle? The Spin Doctor wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 8:39 pm Talk me through:

If that Landie was part of a group in the desert you could see it at Long Range.
