Must have happened so quick I doubt she’d have had a chance to do anything, it’s like really bad tank slappers, folk say you should do this that and the next when the reality of it is you’re along for the ride and there ain’t sweet fuck all you can do.

I nearly looped the GSX-R in Devon, combination of an exit from a steep uphill hairpin, 1st gear by mistake, a big step in the road that kicked the front up, and me being a dick.

I just managed to get a toe over the rear brake and get the front down before I hit a wall on the wrong side of the road. I was lucky nothing was coming the other way.

Apparently she was wearing a back protector, but a turboed Hayabusa landing on top of you tends to hurt, the whole sequence is on the Straightliners Facebook page, apparently happened very quickly, a lot more grip than expected.

I'm not surprised the weight of the bike did some serious damage to the poor lass...

...but people still assume that back protectors will save you when you impact a tree or a car!

True. But also true that she would probably not have been injured as badly if she could have. It's noticeable now how few GP etc riders get tangled up with their bikes when things go pear shaped - they let go pretty sharpish. (Although I have seen the vid where the rider goes to ground still holding the bars, stands the bike up and rides off again - iirc it was slow speed in the wet though).

Doubt a std brake would overcome the oomph of a blown hayabusa, but might give you enough time to shut the throttle!

Looks like she landed on the coccyx after getting away from the bike judging from those pics so not a lot of protection from the back protector and shock transfer up the spine...... ouch

Not being funny but that would have came up so quickly that covering the rear foot brake would have done nothing, doubt she’d have been able to activate it quickly enough, it’s difficult enough to modulate the rear brake when pulling wheelies and that’s when done intentionally.

Yeah that....you need to react instinctively for it to be fast enough and the only way you do that is through lots of experience!
