I fancy a Z650RS, BUT it's going to be nearly £8000 to buy one, which (to me) seems like a hell of a lot of money for a tarted up commuter bike.

LOL same as always. You fancy every bike on the planet, until you have to buy one.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 1:46 pm I fancy a Z650RS, BUT it's going to be nearly £8000 to buy one, which (to me) seems like a hell of a lot of money for a tarted up commuter bike.
In honesty i don't know why you don't go try a bike or two, just to see. You may be amazed just how much fun they can be compared to what you own... Alternatively it may cement your decision not to buy one too.
Luckily bikes are different to food otherwise you'd have starved to death years ago

Re: Z650RS.... maybe?
It's a problem for me, is a new Z650RS worth the same to me a second hand Z900RS, and are either of them worth 8 times my 30 year old FZ750, I'm honestly jealous of your ability to spend money on bikes, it's an ability I had but seem to have lost with middle age.

Re: Z650RS.... maybe?
It doesn't need to be 8* better, it's a bike, you buy it, use and enjoy it for a year or two and sell it for 70% or purchase, you've had fun playing with it, on it and out riding it.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:14 pm It's a problem for me, is a new Z650RS worth the same to me a second hand Z900RS, and are either of them worth 8 times my 30 year old FZ750, I'm honestly jealous of your ability to spend money on bikes, it's an ability I had but seem to have lost with middle age.
At the end of the day it's a couple of grand for hours and hours of riding
What exactly are you saving the money for instead?

Re: Z650RS.... maybe?
Fuck knows.
22 years ago I cheerfully spent £5700 on an R1 when I didn't have a job, now I can't spend £8000 on a bike when I'm being paid £55,000 a year, got no mortgage and £30K in the bank.

Re: Z650RS.... maybe?
Who gives a fuck. What else are you going to do with the £130 a month ? Put it into savings so next year you have more money you've not spent ?Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:43 pmDon't be mental, that means paying interest on a loanweeksy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:39 pmThen instead pay £130 a month and don't touch savingsLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:38 pm

Why do you work for a living if it's not to buy nice things ? May as well go part time....

It's more of an attend type of deal rather than doing any actual work

Re: Z650RS.... maybe?
To annoy you lot with my shall I, shan't I, bike buying conundrums.
WFH home tomorrow, I could pop down the Kawasaki dealers at lunch time, shame it's not a Triumph or Honda I fancy as the dealers is about 400 yards from mine, maybe I'll go and have a look at a Trident 660 tomorrow, see if I can book a test ride.

They've got this in stock
Not as pretty as the Z650RS, but as an overall bike it's more appealing than the Kawasaki, mostly because it's got more than 2 cylinders.

Re: Z650RS.... maybe?
If you read the reviews, they're exceptonal bikes. It was a battle between the MT07 and the 660 for me, the reviews said the 660 is better handling and a better bike, but the MT07 is more fun.... Hence going for the MT07.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:56 pm https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185092719497 ... Sw9yZhX8Z6

Re: Z650RS.... maybe?
As I've edited my post, the 660 is more appealing to me because it's not a twin, I associate 4 stroke twins with Honda Superdreams, GS500s and Z750 twins, all of which were awful slugs.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:58 pmIf you read the reviews, they're exceptonal bikes. Re: Z650RS.... maybe?
Le fromage, you remind me of me! I've just pissed myself reading that conversation between you and weeksy.
Before I had a pot to piss in I would have happily dived into a huge loan for the latest gsxr,r6 etc and not even considered if I could afford it, or where the money was coming from.
Nowadays when I can actually afford any bike I want( within reason) I really struggle making a purchase. It even grieved me when I sold my last bike knowing that I was wasting 2 weeks tax because I sold it in the middle of the month .
The thought of interest payments scare the shit out of me as well.
Luckily I wouldn't thank you for a gsxr , r6 type of thing nowadays anyway.
