Just had a video call with one at my place. Wanted to know the 'As is' process for issuing Certificates of Deposit. I ask him if he wants me to explain the product and how it works. He politely declines and says he knows all about it. Great! This should be a short meeting!

I then spend the next 45 minutes answering his very basic questions in Peter and Jane tones about how the products works as he demonstrates quite beautifully how he actually knows fuck all about them. Why not just say that and save us the time?

That's par for the course.
In a couple of weeks he'll release a report telling you all about your industry and your job, and people on here will use it to tell you how you're wrong about everything

Probably because he asked about the process and Gremlin waffled on about the product for an hour.

My F-I-L used to be a supervisor on the dust at Bromley council. As I understand it, conflict resolution took many guises, but a favourite of the binmen was a heavy steel axle from a wheelie bin judiciously applied to the legs, or worse, of another.

It's no wonder he took retirement early.

A while ago I fell for a fake SORN site, but got my money back from the credit card company. Today I wanted to check the tax on another vehicle that a letter tells me has run out. So what do I do? I click on the first link in google and pretty soon it's asking for payment details This time I realise that's wrong and head off to the correct site.

Seriously, how do these sites get above the official government one?

These companies that you're obliged to use for Covid tests when travelling.

When we arrived back from Santorini back in August, two out of the three Day 2 tests we did would not register, i.e. no activation email. When I contacted the company, they eventually replied saying there was a system error their end, try again. Still no joy. After a while I gave up, sent an email to ask for a refund for the two duff ones, nada back. Write it off as pissing in the wind only gets you piss-stained chinos.

Used a different, recommended by a friend, company called Expert Medicals for my recent sojourn. Day 2 test, to be sent by courier in time for my triumphant return from Italy. Or not. Just didn't turn up. The tracking info shows the courier having not received the package, hence, I ain't got it. No reply to email, phone constantly engaged. I suspect most people wouldn't be that bothered, in any real sense, as you've had to fork out anyway so why worry about the actual test part of the equation, so the apathy levels are right up there.

Anyway, it's all going to be consigned to history soon enough, so it's all academic, really. Rant over. Namaste.


For balance, some are ok. The one I've used a few times for Fit-to-Fly is Wren Healthcare and they've always been fine.

Yeah I used them too, it was painless. Good shout. I heard there were cheaper ones about now (in the 25 quid range?) but I haven't investigated further because I really don't care ...

I ordered the same (testingforall) for my folks - christ alive, trying to guide non computer literate folk in their 80s through what they need to do to complete the whole process, really ages you! I don't think they even bothered looking up the results ...

I used Boots for my Day 2 test last week. £68, but it didn't matter as work were paying. Ordered it Friday, turned up Monday. Test done, posted back using NHS priority postbox. Results came back Thursday...and it was positive despite being double jabbed and had Covid about 45 days before the test.

PCR tests are no good if you've had a positive infection in the last 90 days as they will detect the previous remenants, so I've been isolating AGAIN. I see the rules are changing for Oct half-term and you only need to do a lateral flow now.

Thanks for that. Booked lateral flow test for the wife when she returns Friday next week from the family visit to Hungary. She is waiting at the airport in Luton now.... Flight is at 22:45.... but transfer etc is a real pain.
