Once you've finished racing it, put a normal sump plug in and put the mint road body work you kept in the loft back on it... minter!
It's a fair point. The non UK ones might be less raced. And the ones that were raced were able to take it. Not like the OW01s and Ducatis.

A lot of RC30s weren't raced, you used to see them at Box Hill on sunny Sundays in the early 90s, the only OW01 I've seen on the road is the one I test rode in 1996, it's a bit difficult to miss when you're riding it, I bought a YZF750R instead as it was a better bike to ride and cost the same (£5K)

As an ornament.... Well it is pretty, but will Mrs Potter want it in the lounge
As a bike to ride.... you'll hate it, it was an AMAZING motorcycle 30 years ago, but things move on, a lot! you've owned and ridden stuff that's faster and handles and stops better.
But - he's got and rides a Rudge!! :D :D :D

It's got full history with Tony Scott engine.
He paid about £10k for it about 10 years ago. He takes it up to Kirkby once a year.

Wins all round.

Also got a mint YPVS F2 in his kitchen.
All that money and he can't afford a garage. I presume he's single?

Worth having a chat with @GENT about it. He's got one (or two) I seem to remember. Obviously he's posted on here about his Petronas bikes but he's got excellent knowledge - he may even know that bike.

I think the only 0W01 I've seen not at a race meeting was still a race bike. My local Yamaha dealer were selling Simon Le Bon's old race/track bike, that would have been mid 90s I reckon.

I just always wanted an RC45.
Everyone I've spoken to with one has advised me against it though :(

If I'm honest it's more of a tick box exercise than wanting to ride it. I never thought I'd be able to afford one and so it's a realisation of a dream and it's more about that really than the actual bike - which I think is the case for many people and that's why the actual article disappoints them.

IS the correct answer... it may even be 3 of them, and an R7 lol.

Buy an RC45 - feck what people who can't afford one say
Or another alternative, there was a bloke at Cadwell with a VFR750 in an RC45 dress, he also has an RC45, he reckoned the VFR was nicer and easier to ride, unfortunately he said no when I offered to take them both out on track to compare them, he was selling both the VFR and the RC btw, though this was a few months ago.

I might save it for The Big Change.

At some in the future I'm mulling the idea over of a complete change, selling everything and doing something very different. I don't think it's healthy or reasonable to expect to be able to just walk back into a life you left over a decade ago.

We'll probably keep a house as a bolt hole, but everything else will go, maybe at that point I'll try a new direction and have just one bike, maybe an RC30.

My mate had a RC45, used to track it regularly as well.
Did a race school/track day tuition with Simon Crafar and went 5s a lap quicker on cbr6 than his RC.
Apparently needed the full works kit on it to be a fast bike.
Warmed McCallen's RC45 up at Jurby once, gossamer crank mass!

I remember late 80s when I was often in the BSB paddock. The RC30s were good, but bloody expensive to run.
When they brought out some fancy new carbs at 10 grand, you had to have them or get blown away.

But RC30s didn't win every race though.
