She's also partial to blackberries, but hasn't mastered taking them off with her teeth. I have to be careful how many I give her, coz, just like the figs, blackberries have an undesirable effect and it's me has to pick it up.....

We used to have a chocolate lab who would pick his own blackberries. He did it very delicately just using his lips to take the fruit and leave the stalk, and would only pick properly ripe ones. It didn't have any adverse effects, but he was quite happy to clean up his own mess if you let him ...

Whilst I was pootling along in Italy (did I mention I went to Italy recently? I know, I know...stuck record), I came to a bend in quite a wooded area and out of the corner of my eye I saw movement. My first though was that it was a dog, but as I looked I saw it was a boar sow. Size of a medium dog, I'd say, hairy as you like and proper chunky. I slowed down as I didn't want to spook the thing, as they're known to be a bit feisty, but it trotted along a few feet in front of me for a bit, gave me a backward look, crossed the road and buggered off into the undergrowth on the other side, quite unfazed.

Had it known I'd enjoyed a boar stew a few nights before it may have been a bit more narky.

I was smiling for a while after that. Proper made my day.

(I also saw a dead porcupine at the side of the road. I never knew they lived in Italy, but apparently they're quite numerous. Well, one less of them now, obviously)

The fact that for the first time ever I vaguely succeeded at making Macaron. Still needs some work, but it has taken me far too many attempts to get even this far.

I'm getting better at it.

For long and complicated reasons related to my management training at work I've signed myself up to make Macaron for the Christmas party this year. Therefore every Friday afternoon is now Macaron time! I can finish early on Friday's hence the opportunity.

I can at least tell what I'm doing wrong now as well. These are supposed to be yellow - which they kind've are, but they're still mostly beige.

We’re getting some new wallpaper in the kitchen so Mrs W and I were laid in bed, each with separate iPads browsing random wallpaper sites. Suddenly I shout ‘that’s it - I’ve found it’. Without looking up or knowing what I was looking at she says ‘no you’re not having pulp fiction’.

"Boar sow". Not too sure about that - an oxymoron. The first is male, the second female. Hermaphrodite? Or was it a female "wild boar"? i.e. a "wild boar sow". I suppose that's what they're called. The male would then be a wild boar boar. Or is that tautology? So many questions....

But now they want us to go visit to put money into the economy.

Even a free bus to take us to the viewing point.
We get 75% discount on flights, so we're off next week for a day or 2

That must be a pretty amazing, if devastating, sight to see! Make sure you take a decent camera!

I usually walk Elvis for 4 or 5 miles every morning. Keeps me fit

But last few mornings he's lagged behind on the last mile and didn't look too happy. Thought that he's naturally slowing down which will mean my exercise will also reduce

But he was back to normal today, so my exercise will stay positive

I did 1.5 miles in 9.19.

'tis pretty good, I was pleased with my first <7 minute mile a while back!

Mrs. D has a personal coach to motivate her. He's also a pro, i.e. running is his only job. You think you're doing really well and then you see on Insta that he's just casually done a 58 minute half marathon or something

My sis-i-law has a new fella in tow. Nice bloke, works in the shoe repair/key cutting place next to her shop. I mentioned in a conversation that my trusted HG Master V suit had a few niggles, such as busted wrist zip and knackered Velcro. He popped around the other night, took the suit and brought it back last night, with repaired zip, new Velcro, patch on the waistband where it was fraying a bit, re-blacked leather and some preemptive stitching to keep it going for another few years. Wouldn't take any money for his trouble.

I owe him a few beers I reckon.
