We had that happening on a few of our Dell Laptops in the charity I worked in. Yep, a real pain and they do go "pop". So best to swap it out.

Bulged back, twisted frame, killed all USB outlets, although they returned once I had it out and straightened it all up.
Aside from that it's all good running on AC power and will stay in service until work can provide me with anew one.
