Kawasaki Set to Electrify Its Entire Range in Developed Markets by 2035
https://www.autoevolution.com/news/kawa ... kSWLWgOuVU

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki has announced that all its bikes sold in developed countries will become fully electric by 2035. They also plan on exploring hydrogen propulsion as more of a near-term solution, as they make the push towards carbon neutrality.

I'm not sure how I feel about that, but it is what it is,I suppose. :hmmm:

In the exciting new electric world bikes may be the fastest form of transport over a long distance, little to do with top speed and more to do with reduced charging times.

I like the idea, proper immediate torque and no dicking about with ethanol fuel.

Obviously the ADV lot will claim the range isn't going to be enough but most scooter riders do bigger runs than them in real life anyway (see em at Tebay and ask where they're going and they reply Brighton) so maybe not as big an issue as it's made out.

Kawasaki have made a good few entertaining bikes over the years, the twostroke triples had an unusual sound that wasn't induction so I'm fairky sure they'll chuck out decent lecky bikes as well.

Yep that’s it for me, the noise is what adds to the drama, the excitement of it all, the change is engine noise when the rear spins up etc, when you pull a wheelie, when traction control kicks in, I mean how boring will onboard footage be or the likes? Utter pish! It will be boring as fuck!

How many of you people who says they'll be boring have actually driven a high performance modern EV?

They're different for sure, but not dull. If your experience of EVs is limited to golf buggies and mobility scooters you'll be surprised at just how lively a proper EV is.

There's a company up here that had some off road electric bikes for hire in the summer. Well, sort of for hire - it was an organised 'tour' for an hour on the mountain. I couldn't afford it back then but hopefully in the winter I'll be able to have a go on their winter version - probably the same bike but with a track on the back and a wheel on the front!! I can't wait :D :D :D

Nope, totally different bikes!! I might have struggled on the summer one this year, but will have a go next year for sure! Motorbikes aren't allowed on the mountain proper up here because it's a national park and bikes are noisy dirty smelly polluting things  - I reckon the electric ones will be allowed for private as well as the company that runs these trips!

Image

Not sure about doing a 30 minute trip on the mountain in shorts though - well, not with my rep! LOL

These look like fun for the winter. Expensive at 60€ for a 30 minute trip, but I reckon it'd be worth saving up the tips to go play one evening :D :D

I read recently MAG will be fighting what they term as,'forced electrification',so given the outstanding success they had with the helmet law,we'll be ok then.

It's far from a surprise... the only real surprise is that it's taken the Japanese so long to wake up. Yamaha only plan to have 90% of their range electric by 2050.

If the Japanese (and Europeans) don't get a shift-on, the future will be Chinese and Indian electric motorcycles. They already dominate the small electric bike market.
