Revived? All I'm seeing is graphics, led lights, and a coloured screen? I suppose f I could be arsed to read the article, I may find out there's more to it, but there isn't enough going on visually to make me want to.

A bathroom appliance with wheels.
That screen would mess up what I want to be seeing too.
Mind you,I think all ADV bikes look shit,so I doubt if anything from that niche will please me.

Never owned a Transalp but I quite like it.If these days Honda made something similar I'd seriously consider buying one.
I've a soft spot for 80's style ADV bikes,I've got a 1986 XT600 rebuild project to start when I get some time..

I like it. It's understated and of its time.
I did ride one of those original Transalps many years ago and it was fucking gutless and surprisingly heavy.

I likes it.
I had the last generation 700 Transalp, It just needed another 20bhp to have been a cracking bike.

It's a really nice version of what it is IYSWIM. All the tweaks and additions have a purpose, he's kept what works, the lighting changes are nicely done and it was built with a useage scenario in mind.
So
I don't like the graphics on the back of the screen but *shrug*.

Meh - maybe they're sharpened up the lines slightly but it still looks bad in a bad way. Not good-bad.
Probably makes a great hack but not something to covet.

If all these old bikes were any good, they'd still be making them today.

Got a mate who had a 600, wasn't even close to fast but as long as I rode it with momentum in mind it was quite entertaining. At that time I was hooning about on a 500 twostroke so I like to think I have a reasonable idea of what entertaining is.
It's one of the only Hondas Ive liked.

Re: RALLY RESTOMOD: VIBA REVIVES THE HONDA TRANSALP
The 'good' part of that statement is subjective.
Older bikes may not be good when evaluated in terms of modern tech and/or competitive performance, but a potential buyer may desire 'good' as liking how it looks, nostalgic reasons, depreciation,or just a plain old and unquantifiable 'it makes them feel good'.
What constitutes a good bike will always divide opinion along the lines of want or need. Humans are often a fickle and illogical lot.

When were Transalp ever considered good bikes, they were always slow, heavy and ugly, they've no redeeming features, if you must have a bike like this get the rare HRC 650 Africa Twin.

They were a good courier bike, reliable, pretty comfy and handy around town.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 9:43 pm When were Transalp ever considered good bikes, they were always slow, heavy and ugly, they've no redeeming features, if you must have a bike like this get the rare HRC 650 Africa Twin.
Worst part was the crumbling rear rum that was a bespoke item, so more than a few ended up with odd bodged in wheels
