Re: PANIC BUY!
That was my exact thought! I hate turkey and would happily never bother the poor things, but now people might start having the alternatives I normally have. Here's to a turkey non shortage!

Re: PANIC BUY!
I do love turkey but as the french don't seem to ever roast a whole one they are Really expensive to buy. It's not quite the same effect with just a rolled one or a joint (of turkey!!)
But I think the venison christmas was one of the best!

Re: PANIC BUY!
As long as the curry house it open Christmas day (like usual), a shortage of turkey won't worry me.

Re: PANIC BUY!
They do all that at the Balti Palace, you can have a full crimbo dinner with all the trimming or anything of the normal menu.
You see full families eating, half with turkey and the other have with curry.
You really can't beat Chicken Madrass and Keema rice.

Re: PANIC BUY!
Great, now I need to panic buy food.
That's a misleading headline, one supplier has suggested schools buy more stuff from them. The same paper is running a story about how 1 in 6 people can't find essentials in the shop, read the text and that's stretching the truth as much as they can.

Re: PANIC BUY!
On the TV new last night they ran the school dinners story. One school had to top up by putting an order in from Iceland.
I thought to myself, I bet Iceland is a fuck ton cheaper than buying it from Brakes, etc...

Re: PANIC BUY!
This shows that the primary cause of the fuel shortage had nothing whatsoever to do with a shortage of lorry drivers.
Seems that BP and the RHA have a lot to answer for in their roles in instigating the panic buying.DT wrote: Panic buying left petrol stations 85pc empty
A surge of panic buying pushed fuel sales to more than double their normal level and left petrol stations across the country 85pc empty, new figures have revealed.
Fuel sales soared to almost 36,000 litres per filling station on Sept 24, compared with a pre-Covid average of almost 18,000 litres, according to the Business Department.
Worries over a lack of lorry drivers sparked fears of shortages and led to long queues at forecourts as motorists desperately tried to fill up.
The panic buying drained stocks at petrol stations to as little as 15pc nationwide, the figures showed.
The Army has now been deployed to help with deliveries, but supply shortages have persisted – especially in London and the south east.
The data showed that while the situation has improved, inventories remained well below normal on Oct 3.

I've had to visit two Waitrose stores just to get some organic, artisan carnarolli rice, for the love of God!
