I had a Pampered Chef version years ago. I suspect they are all much of a much of a muchness?

TBF, the mandolin and all the blades too up lots of room. And, weirdly for me, it was more dangerous to use than a knife!!! :lol:

Many moos ago I lost the corner of my right thumb using a mandolin slicing potatoes!!! Didn't feel a thing until I saw the copious amount of blood in the sink!! Evil things

I've tried a couple and apart from being bulky and awkward to clean they have gone in the bin for being dangerous to boot, a sharp knife seems better in every way.

Maybe, but I ain't got time to be dilly dallying about with a knife julienning various veg.
Hell, this evening I haven't eaten at all because I couldn't be arsed spending 5 minutes to pick all the cabbage out of a bag of pre sliced veg

As long as you use the adaptor, they're brilliant things! Wife used to use one t make home made slaw and it was fantatstic. Then she inexplicably lost the adaptor and after one bad cut, it was consigned to the back of the cupboard. I'll pick another up next time i'm in TK MAxxx.

The thing I find with mandolins, is that they are:

-Just another utensil to find space for.

-A bugger to wash up

-More of a threat to your digits than an irritated piranha

-Only slightly better than a decent knife. Sure it give uniform slices, but who takes a Vernier gauge to a coleslaw?

If I'm making a 'slaw in any quantity, out comes the food processor and on stay the fingers.

Some friends proudly showed off their new mandolin the other day. Ok, it's for making things like Daupinoise potatoes for up to 14 people, a lot to chop with a knife and neither reckons they have 'good' knife skills. And, TBF, when I did chalet hosting, I did get one because it was quicker to slice potatoes for a similar dish with a mandolin than a knife - at least I thought so - I'm not sure really when you add in washing up and risk!!

First time I've been accused of sounding like a 'mum' - I was VERY clear that regardless of how confident they were, ALWAYS use the guard!! LOL LOL We'll see what happens! LOL
