For over-priced, limp sandwiches and piss-weak coffee.

A few of the sites we saw yesterday had 'Open 24 hours a day' stores attached. Which were closed.

Rode in from Basildon to Central London today and every garage along the way had petrol and no queues coming out of the garage, only a few cars at the pumps?!

Gremmers, there was a bigger queue for McDonald's than petrol at the BP garage on the Highway!

I agree. All of the fuel stations I've been near in Hertford this week are still out completely. Based on my experience I reckon it's more like 1 in 10 open.

Tesco at Brookfield are getting 3 tankers a day.

Told to wifey by someone in the filling station so I assume it's true.

where in fucks name are people putting it now ? surely the cars must be all full in terms of panic buying ? So must surely go back to pre-crisis levels.

Some people waited, they now need to catch up.

Like myself. Assumed it was idiot-driven, as opposed to supply chain-driven. I now have no fuel in the family bus.

I'm in tomorrow and go past it, so I'll take the 5l can and fill it up for the missus if there's anything left.

Use code 30AFF for an extra 30% off and free delivery. Needs to be a new customer so use a spare email address and you're good to go. It's even better value to order two cases at once with that code as they discount more and usually chuck in a couple of free bottles.

Edit: I got a bottle of 'Fire and Foal' Sauv Blanc free last order. That was well nice. Poncy bottle of fizz too. Gave that to the laydddeeeez.

You may thank me later.

Mrs. G just called me. She was queuing for petrol for ages, got to three cars in front of her and they ran out.

Wait. She's driving my car. Why am I laughing? :wtf:

Interesting analysis.

https://news.sky.com/story/how-an-extra ... t-12426700
How an extra five litres of petrol helped cause the country to grind to a halt

'Just-in-time' supply chains can help keep costs down, but a sudden upsurge in demand can leave them unable to cope, leading to shortages ...

... On average, every time we fill up we buy 24.5 litres at independent petrol stations. But as panic buying set in, this increased by 22% to 29.82 litres, according to EdgePetrol's data.

The relatively small increase (just over 5 litres) in the average person's demand, coupled with a near tripling in the number of customers in a very short time led to shortages across the across the system.
Experts in logistics suggest that bottle necks in the supply chain, such as a shortage of HGV and fuel tanker drivers, have prevented a quick restoration of stock levels.

Empty pumps when I went past about 09:30 this morning, same with the Texaco opposite. Did you get juice okay?

Got some last night so wasn't really on the lookout. That said, a few garages on the way in seemed to have people filling up without the long queues, so maybe normality is being restored.

We walked down to the local BP last night (it's an M&S as well, we were hoping to buy some tasty treats), the place was shut up almost as if it was closing down. There was even metal fencing across the entire frontage to prevent people driving onto the forecourt.

I've not been out looking for fuel yet, luckily my current travel needs are minimal, although I was hoping to go to Stafford on Sunday to watch Dad's bikes going under the hammer, that's going to be a last minute decision now, :(.

Wow! That's a pretty big shop for a service station IIRC. To keep that shut must be losing them £££s. Maybe the staff were getting too much aggro? (Maybe they plan to redevelop it).

I've a funny feeling it was redeveloped only recently (as in a year or two ago), so I can only assume they've 'shut down' temporarily.

I've seen shops attached to garages closed recently. Probably isn't worth their bother of opening. My local BP has an M&S franchise (?) and it was stocked to the gunwales the other morning, but bugger all petrol. Might be supply problems, might be the lack of trade causing them to close.

You'll be pleased to know the casserole got made, plenty for the in-law's freezer and a reasonable plateful got eaten last night when we went around there, which is always good as the m-i-l doesn't eat much, a result of the dementia.

I made the mistake of asking how the casserole was, to which I got he reply, 'It's OK, now stop fucking going on about it!'.

Beats being called a 'cunt', I suppose.
