Do you push in at petrol stations?
I haven't until today when I followed a friend and jumped 4 or 5 queuing cars. A car tooted and there was a mild altercation between my friend and the driver who accused us of giving bikers a bad name.
I wouldn't jump a queue on my own as I'm only little and someone might lamp me by mistake....and I'm British, I understand queueing.

There's never a queue so it's never been open to discussion. I wouldn't now though no.

I wouldn't push passed others for the petrol station, traffic lights are my favourite.

Re: Do you push in at petrol stations?
I wouldn't jump any queue (traffic aside) I'd either wait my turn or try later and I'd certainly be vocal if someone pushed in front of me.
On occasion though,if I've been in a hurry and had the correct cash after filling up,I haven't waited behind a line of folk buying scratch cards etc,so I suppose that is technically queue jumping!
If it's busy,I'll also wheel my bike from the pumps to let other folk fill up while I pay for mine.

Re: Do you push in at petrol stations?
I've done it fairly often when for whatever reason there's an empty space in front of a car that's taking a while. Quite often I've filled up and been on my way (using pay at pump) before the "blocking" car is done.
No harm no foul right?
But even with that logic I wouldn't do it at the moment.

Two wheeler's have a justified right to queue jump in the name of congestion easing, but not for fuel, imo that is.

Re: Do you push in at petrol stations?
Probably not at the moment.
I once pushed to the front of a peage queue, then realised I'd ended up at the card only one and spent 5 mins trying to find me card out (I had the exact cash in my pocket).
I got honked at, a lot.

Re: Do you push in at petrol stations?
Don't think I've ever needed to consider it apart from when a LHS filler car needs a RHS pump. S'not really pushing in though and I probably wouldn't in other circumstances. People can have very short fuses even in normal times!
I'll filter like an eel at queues on the road though.

I think I've done similar, rarely. But then I don't often go out when it's busy.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 5:31 pm I've done it fairly often when for whatever reason there's an empty space in front of a car that's taking a while. I wouldn't in a long queue with angsty customers, it's not polite.

Re: Do you push in at petrol stations?
I used to commute 100 miles a day by bike, so I'd be filling up every other day during rush hour. Bollox to waiting every time Especially when you can do it in <2 mins at a pay at pump.

Not much point here. They're all empty!

No, but I have a car with the filler on the passenger side, I often drive past a load of people waiting for the pumps that are on the drivers side of the car.

Why do they do that? The hoses will reach any side of a car.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 9:21 pm No, but I have a car with the filler on the passenger side, I often drive past a load of people waiting for the pumps that are on the drivers side of the car.

Re: Do you push in at petrol stations?
Feck knows, if there's no passenger side pumps available I go to a drivers side one and the hose reaches, and it's not a small car.Skub wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 9:24 pmWhy do they do that? I have pushed in from a couple of miles out, when I’ve run dry.

If I was in a car and a bike pushed in I'd kick the fuck out of him, maybe.

Re: Do you push in at petrol stations?
Yeah i dont get that..... i was filling the wifes Evoque up a last weekend in a short queue after driving home from Devon and was told to wait for a right sided fill. When i pointed out the hoses reach even to a Range Rover so put me at any pump the minion looked confused but sent me to a left sided pump..... funnily enough the hose reachedSkub wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 9:24 pmWhy do they do that? As for the bikes i havent had to queue yet and spent Friday afternoon using an old ST1100 Pan as a fuel tanker to get fuel for the fleet bikes to continue training as most places wont let us fill cans up. I got to make 4 trips on the Pan , back to base, syphon fuel out to fill the other bikes and back again and again. Pretty normal here as of this morning but will see what the new week brings

Re: Do you push in at petrol stations?
My club was supposed to be doing a big ride out (60 bikes) last weekend which has been pushed to next weekend. Beaconsfield Services to Basingstoke (the long way) and back. I won't be leaving home unless the situation improves dramatically. I was looking at small jerry cans online, do I, don't I, how long will this last - I have one of the standard 5L plastic ones but it leaks a bit and won't fit in a pannier upright so no good.
