Give her a chance! She's only done 5 miles on it!
Having seen the road up to her gaffe, I'm not holding my breath!

Cool beans, happy for you chick, a pat on the back to those that chipped in, and a fry up or pint for Demannu should we ever be in the same county.

MEEEE-OOOOOOOW!!!!

Had to make a couple of adjustments to tickover as I forgot she lives half way to heaven.
A quick bit of arithmetic tells me that at Chez Nog, the motor will have 20% less oooomph than at sea level.
May have to have a word with Ducati re jetting for altitude!

Well done to Demannu, brilliant work

Given her history I'm not sure Noggin ought to be allowed to sit on a bike without full protective gear on, even if she's not actually going to ride it.

Well, lucky we stayed around today, as Thunderbird 2 was required for a possible recovery as Nog had a rolls Royce 'failure to oroceed' moment.
So down 21 bloody hairpin bends I go, a quick fettle here, sucking of teeth there, and notice that the vacuum pipe to the fuel pump was a floppy as an old man's cock and seriously kinked.
A quick-ish re route and she has a relative called Robert.

Broken it already!

Did you then drive back up the 21 hairpins?

Hopefully not in the dark. Done some of that stuff on a bike and while that barrier should stop a car, a bike might stop but the rider carry on straight over the top to the sheer drop on the other side. Squeaky bum time.

I did like this but then took it off. Having been here a while now, I've seen a few cars go over the edge (mostly snow and/or alcohol and dark related) and lost a friend about three years ago, although his bike didn't stop at the barrier and nor did he :( :( (Properly weird because, apparently the bike was mechanically sound, but the place he went over is not where you'd expect - so the consensus was that he braked or swerved to avoid something, probably a small animal :( :( )

I do have a lot of respect for these roads and if the bike is reduced power at altitude, that's totally fine right now!! LOL

Demannu was awesome to come down and rescue/fix the bike - the return ride up the hairpins was my best ride on it so far!! I've done about 70 miles since it arrived on Saturday and today made a top speed of 55mph!! LOL Slightly over the 80kph limit :o !!

Weirdly, it currently doesn't feel at all slow! And whilst I'm getting a few aches (and strangely some pain in my elbow ??) the aches during and after riding are dealable with and the sort that will go away as I get stronger and more bike fit.

I does feel very small! Not the engine, physically!! LOL It's the first bike I've ever had that I can get both feet flat on the ground :o :o very odd!!

Still smiley as a very smiley thing!!

I rode to Bourg St Maurice this afternoon to support a friend who was opening a cake shop today. And, whilst there, got chatting with some people that are also bikers!! I knew I just needed to get fit enough to ride and I'd meet like minded peeps :D :D

Next trip down is Tuesday - forecast currently is rain, but I'm hoping that will change to cloud at the worst and possibly sunshine!! (In general the phone forecast I vaguely look at does change - just need it not to be snow! LOL). Planning not to ride today - or only up to see Demannu, P and the doogs if they don't want to come down here for coffee at my friends resto. Need to give the shoulder/arm a day to relax after all the riding :D :D

Some of those roads are pretty scary in good conditions. Done some of them 2-up, fully loaded and, on the LT, had much scraping of the undercarriage stuff.

Sitting at the back of a ski bus you sometimes feel like you're hanging over the void.

You mentioned Bourg St Maurice..I think that's where a bunch of us got the ski train (the horror, the horror!) to but IIRC the road up to Val D'Is is pretty tame.

Yup, the ski train finishes (finished?) at Bourg. You can get out at previous stations but to get on, only Bourg has the passport office, so all aboard there!! LOL

The road up to me is at least a decent width! There is room for two large vehicles (if both drivers know how wide their vehicles are!! LOL) but some places are twisty and narrow - always interesting. And I do go on about 21 hairpins, but that's only cos they are numbered!!  But they are a lot of fun going up. I do need to gain confidence going down, but for now, slow and steady and smooth on downward hairpins whilst I build some confidence and ability!

And yes, the road up to Val d'Isere is tame in comparison to some!! I'd hate to be at the back of a bus though on any of the mountain roads!

In good conditions, going up is fun - until you meet a Fronch who uses the white line as a marker for the centre of his vehicle!! LOL Weirdly, despite this habit and lot of French bikers seem to cut the corners and so aim their head at the bonnet of cars that stay on their side of the road - serious evasive action on both parts if they meet a Fronch centre line driver whilst hanging their head over the white line!!

Hence the huge amount of respect given to these roads! I'm still quite glad I have a slow bike tho! I would be tempting in spring to hoon about a lot more but it will be good for me to be more gentle for longer for sure!!

I did have some of the ingredients for a fry up here, so they were handed over (bacon and black pud!) and also some pork pies with scones and clotted cream for afternoon tea!! LOL

I didn't have much else to offer, but when I head in that direction I'll try and stock up on some more bits that can't be easily purchased in their neck of the woods and take them with me! :D :D
