I used the business account to hire a car (as I've done a lot over the years) to get to a couple of appointments (part business & part health, which is business really as need health to work!!).
Part of the process is a 'preauthorisation' of the deposit and rental. Then if you take the car back early, they don't have to do an actual refund, just unblock the preauthorisation and make an actual charge on the card of the rental, minus the deposit
So, the money isn't taken, it's just blocked. (Like at fuel stations here)
This doesn't show as a transaction, because, I guess, it isn't an actual transaction. The account is just X amount less than before the preauthorisation.
Equally, when they cancel the preauthorisation, the amount just reappears in the account with no line for a transaction
I've been waiting 3 weeks for a cancelled preauthorisation to show in the account. I know it takes 'around' 2 weeks, so, being as we are in France, 3 weeks is pushing it but not exactly unexpected.
BUT, I kinda need the money to show up asap!!
I have been to a different bank this morning to sort up setting up an account for me to use for the estate agent stuff (need to have a separate account, which makes sense but I SO didn't want to set up yet another with the shit bank!)
So that is in process and I was explaining to the girl I dealt with about this preauthorisation and she told me to talk to my bank as they should be able to find the money and sort it out
NOPE. My bank is totally shit. It said no. In English and in French (I did the whole hour with the new bank lady in French, but the old bank lady didn't understand the problem in French or English
She just kept saying there was no transaction so nothing to return
FFS - I've done this often enough that I know the system but 3 weeks is the longest time for a return ever. But my bank can't/won't help me
I did say to the new bank lady that I wouldn't transfer my business account yet but after today I think that, once the new account is processed, I will go back and ask her how easy it is to move the account over (I've told horror stories!!)
I do so hate my bank
