I followed a petrol tanker for about five miles through East Sussex last night, fastest lorry I've ever seen down that road, it was like the driver has been told he's exempt from speeding tickets.

I would honestly have expected more loading than that. Less than a penny.

One of the local garages in Ashbourne thought it would be a nifty idea to stick 20p on a litre on over the weekend. After a swift round of fucks from just about everyone on the local fb group they dropped that idea...

During the last fuel crisis, early 2000s, there was a greedy petrol station owner in a village somewhere . The locals blacklisted him, and he went bust a few months later

That may well have been the one in Langton Green, not far from Tunbridge Wells, down in my old stamping ground in Kent. It had the dubious honour of being the most expensive petrol station in the country at the time.

Surely there must come a time soon when the cars are all full up?

In the east end lots of UBER etc - hybrid cars but still need fuel and it's surprising how far some people drive for work even in Greater London transport

I hope they have some tomorrow, I'm supposed to be having a procedure and I'm not supposed to use public transport to get there. ( Not that buses are immune to blockages caused by fuel queues)

Indeed, all of Europe is gripped by panic buying fuel and half stocked supermarkets. You know the bit about relaxing visa restrictions, that'll be the restrictions introduced to stop Johnny Foreigner coming over and spreading Covid.

Covid also meant that DVSA stopped testing and trainers stopped courses. I don't know how many new drivers that meant didn't get into the system, but it won't have helped.

15k were trained, compared to 40k the previous year. It's estimated that 15-19k Eastern European drivers left the UK in the same year.

It's a cunning ploy by the government to get people used to topping up their cars as often as they can so they are used to it when all cars are electric.

I did mention to Mrs. D the other day that one thing I'm looking forward to with an EV - and which I'd not really considered before - is that it's always parked outside my house ready to go. No need to visit petrol stations! I dunno why, but the need to stop off at the start of a journey really irritates me.

Well, if Grant Shapps says people are panic buying it must be the truth eh? Yup, this Grant Shapps-
