So they will be heavily reliant on people with off-road parking, plugging in all the time it's home and being happy with a 50% charge most of the time.

They will need to bring variable charging rates at public charging points as well, I can picture the rush to get there first when the app says the price has gone down.

The local shell is a Recharge with a 150kwh CCS charge. 10% to 91% in 20 minutes and you get a free coffee whilst you wait.

Local shopping centre car park has BP electric charges. Quite quick too

Dunno about that 50% stuff. One full charge is currently laying me a week

They do it in that London - unsurprisingly there's about 25% mark up on the fuel cost IIRC. That's probably less of an issue where Iccy is I think

I honestly have no idea what petrol costs, it's about £30 to fill my truck up, I think the Porsche is less, I can't remember.
I spoke to the boss of the Cafu thing once, he said they don't really make money on it, that's not why they did it, he's a cool local guy who doesn't need the money and likes doing innovative and new stuff.

The 50% thing would be a minimum charge amount, so if you are under it charges up irrelevant of the load on the grid but over 50% it only charges up if there's more supply than demand. The difference is needed to smooth out demand.

I'm not sure how it will work in practice, all those cars sat there waiting while demand is high, then it drops below the trigger point and all the cars start charging taking the demand back over supply levels. I guess it needs many different price levels and individuals can pick the price point they want to start charging at. It will need a buffer as well otherwise charging will be flicking on and off many times in a night, dunno what effect that will have on battery life.

I have 3/4 of a tank left, just as well as I have a 100 mile round trip tomorrow so by the time I need fuel the only thing petrol stations will be empty of is cars.

Chaos around the local Tesco pumps. I am sure if I went a bit further afield Asda and a couple of Jet stations would be the same.

Mu nice hybrid tells me I have a cruising range of 620 miles at the moment. And I will probably do less than 100 miles in the next week.

I will say that my experience so far is that 50% of charging stations don’t work. Still waiting on getting a home charger

We have had an endless saga at work with the charging posts - incredibly shit service - we are now going to a quick charge post 20 mins drive from the hospital to charge it .

Yeah, I used to live in Farnham ( now live between A and F).

Farnham is an interesting paradox; Gaurdian reading, blue voting.

It is also spectacularly up itself, and coming from me that should raise an eyebrow. Should balance out soon with the build of a trashy cinema multi complex

That's probably half the shop - though I know very little of TKMax, I've only ever been in the one in Ipswich, and that was to look at children's toys about 10 years ago.
