You just reminded me of something. Some good friends of ours moved down to a place called Pett recently, near Hastings. Middle of fucking nowhere, but nice. They've bought a 150 year-old house they're doing up. Went to visit, took our respective dogs for walk in the countryside, they both don matching Barbour coats, vs, my stinking Trespass coat with poo bags and all sorts stuffed into the pocket and the wife's similar old coat. WTF?

As we're out it starts to rain a little and both of them whip out Barbour flat caps. Fahhhhkkkin' 'ell. Seriously?!

Proper embraced the 'cunt-ry look' and deserved every ounce of piss-taking that was throw at them that day. :P

I've recently arranged my first session with the tailor to get my bespoke Peacoat made. Would now be a good time to mention it?

So where is this shop which appears to sell Burberry overcoats, dart boards and bowling pins? :hmmm:

It's the sports section of 'Cotswold Cliché' in Battersea.

Don't need to convince me fella....I had a good old poke around them when looking for a new coat. I honestly don't think I've bought a new winter coat for >10 years! I always wore company gear, but the latest bunch don't have it.

I couldn't find any Burberry etc. stuff I liked...or more accurately, I was thinking "if I'm spending this much on a coat why wouldn't I get one made bespoke?" So that's what I'm doing.

Indeed!

Bespoke is the next level basically Iccy, although ironically it will be quite a bit cheaper than buying Burberry. They don't even measure you, they just 'match fit' everything by holding it up to you, standing back, pinning, drawing with chalk, sucking their teeth and going "hmmmm....." alot. And of course you can have whatever you want, down to the last detail.

I've had a couple of bespoke suits adjusted a couple of times (inwards, thankfully!). Since you're taking it back to the guy who originally made it he knows exactly how it was put together and how it should fit you, so he can take it right back down to the bare panels. Works the other way too, so long as the fabric still exists they can always cut a new piece and put a large panel in to make it bigger etc.

This is why I don't mind spending a bit on this sort of thing, it's essentially a lifetime purchase.

Potter wrote: Thu Sep 23, 2021 9:55 am I really enjoy the experience, if you're buying a £2k+ coat they take you off to a side room, measure you up, bring a selection and then pin it where it needs it, etc.
For a £2k coat i want blowjobs and champagne at the same time !!!!

Well...I ordered me coat yesterday.

All I'm gonna say is, I doubt Burberry offer shocking pink as a colour choice in any of their detail options. But TBH I've not checked.

I do this with most things I get MTM. By and large its normal coloured, but I always add little extras that are a bit more err...fun. Or camp .

For example I've got a black suit which I could (and have) quite happily wear to a funeral without feeling out of place. But the inside is bright lime green, so every now and then you get a flash of it.

I don't know where my red trousers are, I have a couple of pairs but I haven't worn them in ages.

I also have a collection of Barbour coats, ranging from a dirty green Bedale that I bought secondhand many years ago, it must be 50yrs old now, to a brand spanking new Sapper that I bought in August. In between I have half a dozen others.
I also have a selection of Newsboy and flat caps, but mostly Brixton and Stetson, although there are a couple of Barbours in there.

They're for if we're out walking dogs with scruffy people, otherwise we're in Burberry trenchcoats, and occasionally bowler hat if I feel like trolling for snide comments

Bloke with a hat on, 99% chance they have a massive slaphead going on underneath.
