World Super Sports

They're right, the 600 sport bike class is dead.

I wonder how many of the bikes mentioned in the article will get homologated. 890 Dukes on the grid?

TBH i'm struggling to argue with 50% of it and struggling to agree with the other 50%

Sure i get 'bring in more manufacturers' as a logic... but if that's the case, you force them to play within or close to the rule. Like the MV675 and Triumph 675. You don't just say "well, KTM build an 890, that's close to 600, we'll let it in" as that's clearly ridiculous. You certainly then don't let Ducati in with a 950 twin and an RC800 putting out 132 as standard... that's all crazy talk.

But yes, the 600 class is a dead class.. it doesn't exist in the real world any more.

I'd rather see a class of 890, Brutale, 765RS, MT09s, etc... Now that would actually be entertaining.

When will manufacturers see, racing is all about the battles, not about the speed. That's why the SS300, Moto3 etc are all the most exciting classes, because of the battles.

Can see it getting complicated, they'll have to impose rev limits or ballast on some bikes to make it even.

Scott Smart was talking about it at Catalunya last week-end- the bit I heard said next year 765RS and other MVs will be in, with others potentially to follow in 2023- has to happen for the continuation of the class IMO.

He's made it work by and large in SS300 ( although it has become pretty much a green and blue race) , and of course WSB over the years so although I think SS600 will be more complex to level up than the shopping bikes, should be possible, and I see it as a very positive thing - that class is not really of any interest and very missable for me how it is at the moment, albeit in fairness, the lack of Brits in it has a lot to do with that.

I think they're testing these ideas in British Supersport this season. The Kawasaki 635 is slower than the Kawasaki 600 & when they speak to the team they mention things like how many RPM they're allowed to go to,likewise the moto 2 bikes are out on track with them,I don't know if they're doing something similar in other series.
Didn't they limit the RPM's on the ZX10 in WSB the other year?

I think it's race them to sell more of them.

It’ll be interesting, it sounds wrong having the 959 Ducati in there till you look at them racing in the trioptions cup in the UK. They struggle to match super stock 600 times never mind supersport 600 times.

I’d rather have seen a super naked class or an adventure bike class 🤣

I'm not sure what I'd like to see, more Supersport 300 races I think, but adventure Super Moto would be funny, they should have to carry the full camping kit, repair a puncture and cook themselves breakfast, the finish line should be guarded by Eritreans with AK47s who can be negotiated with to allow them across the finishing line.

SSP300, be it BSB or WSBK is the bestest class ever for entertaining/close racing.

I'd rather watch the best in the world do battle, rather than kids.

It's like saying Cadwell club racing is better than MotoGP

From a spectator point of view it probably is, what would you rather watch, a procession or lots of mad over takes, being back Yamaha Pro Am.

And there's a Brit up at the sharp end in world SSP300, which is more than can be said for MotoGP 😁

I find if you invest time in getting to know riders and teams in any series,it makes it all more interesting. All the sub plots etc add a further depth to the entertainment. It doesn't really matter much to me which machinery they are racing. It's the human endeavour which is compelling.

Seems that Ducati think the v2 Panigale will be allowed in and with a familiar name onboard.

That will be good, must admit I’d have liked to have seen Oli tackle the BSB championship but can’t argue with that opportunity.

Bulega has jumped across. Perhaps paying big money to attract names?
