Recommendations for clothing
The nights are getting darker, sooner and I’ve just ordered a light for my bike.
However, with colder days ahead- would really welcome suggestions for clothing. Tops and bottoms. Thanks!

Re: Recommendations for clothing
Nukeproof and Endura stuff is good. As is DHB , chain reactions brand.
Decathlon appeals to my tight streak. Their water proof / breathable AM jacket is great - so much so I have just ordered the trousers
Don’t bother with winter cycling shoes - just but a pair of waterproof walking boots.

Endura apart from their padded shorts (Castelli are the best, unfortunately).

Re: Recommendations for clothing
There seems to be a lot of love for Galibier undershorts / bibs.
Endura undershorts are of a strange fit - but I have three pairs as no where else had stock at the time. The padding is a bit sandpaper like - but not as bad as Pearl Izumi.
I know some won't agree - but most wicking tops are much of the muchness - by all means buy from Movello or Rapha, but after a few months usage they all develop as certain odour. Better to go to Mountain Whorehouse or TK Maxx and buy as cheap as you like sports tops or, if you can deal with the customer service, Planet X / On-One.
Breathable jackets - I sweat like a pig on climbs , and no matter how breathable a jacket is , I will still be soaked. So if it is not raining I will tend to layer wicking items , and carry a wind breaking gilet.
Also check out Alpkit stuff ...

Re: Recommendations for clothing
Wash bike gear promptly and with something like Halo sports wash at 40C and don’t spin to fast (700 or 900, high rpms seem to really knock the stuffing out of bike gear).
Endura padded shorts just need burning. I had arse crack rot on and off for a year until I worked out it was their padded shorts that were causing it.

Re: Recommendations for clothing
Endura long mtb trousers are good, I’ve got summer and waterproof winter ones. Both good now the weather is turning. If not those then waterproof shorts and socks and a waterproof light top. Gloves a must in winter, tbh never really get cold just accept dirty is part of it. Although I have used an all in one waterproof motorbike over suit in winter and it was great but a bit warm
Re: Recommendations for clothing
Decathlon mountain bike padded inner shorts - the ones with the blue pad (keeps my sensitive arse pain free).
Decathlon top of the range shorts.
Aldi merino wool top and outer layer along with their waterproof socks.
Cheap and cheerful, like me

Re: Recommendations for clothing
Still the best MTB winter undershorts I've got are a Fox 3/4 thermal lined that they don't make anymore. I bought another two pairs when I heard they were discontinuing them and they continue to serve me well. Pearl Izumi Launch shorts go over the top - best fitting shorts I've ever had.
U/A Coldgear base layer, Castelli Perfetto or Alpha Ros over the top. If it's going to be a ride with a chance of shredding it then I'll stick a DHB jacket over the top as a "ripstop" layer.
Endura windstopper gloves, DeFeet Woolie Boolie socks and good old Shimano AM45 shoes - although they may not last this winter.
