WEll i think i know how this one will go... but well, here it is. For me, it is a lovely quality of finish and things like Ohlins help it along too.

To go to all that trouble, all that detail...and then use that awful plastic tubing that looks just stuffed into the air filter*. Otherwise, nice job, but not something I'd want/build.

*Is it actually a fixture? What's it for? (Sorted. As Lutin points out further down - crankcase breather).

I like the finish too, but it doesn't stop it being one of the least interesting bimmer customs out there.

It's a shame that the breather(?) pipe is just bodged into the air filter. Could someone not have spent a little time machining or even 3D printing an attachment ring to sandwich between the air filter and the carb?

Indeed, it looks like the crankcase breather, normally it would vent into the airbox.

Usually when an airbox is removed you would vent it into a catch bottle, or run the hose to the rear of the bike so it vented somewhere behind the rider. It just looks silly pushed into a cut on the airfilter!

It's ok, looks nice enough but again that placky pipe through the pod filter (spit) doesn't inspire me with confidence.

Also it's just breathing into one cylinder which seems sub par as well.

I think its got too many modernish looking bits, it seems off kilter. The filters, exhaust, brakes and various brackets just look "off". Or maybe too Japanese looking....I'm not sure.

Dunno, for me I'm all for a bit of new with old stuff as it stops the kind of collector oddbods that want everything original but its got to work.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against new old. I love the R Nine T for example.

But this just looks to me like they couldn't find the right parts so they got what would fit from a Jap bike breaker. I don't know why.

Fair enough, I'm not accusing you of "Being rong" as it's a matter of what we like or not.

I'm still not blown away by that placky pipe to the right side filter though, or the way I can't see how the filter is sealed so it doesn't suck dust and crap through the hole and into the engine.
Personally I also don't like the speedo and have always preferred analogue white face with black numbers but thats cos its what I have and I've not seen any I like better.
Thats getting to the picking holes in it for the sake of it though
It's nicer tban any "Special" that Ive ever seen one of us lot do.

I've a soft spot for the old air cooled boxer lump,but there are quite a few things I dislike about that bike.

The bars are wrong,straight or raised required.

The side without a can looks unfinished and that big droopy header adds to the not want.

The breather tube into the air filter is a beyond gash.

Cables and brake lines are all a bit messy and look as if no care was taken in the layout.

There are quality parts aplenty,I just don't like the way they (don't) come together.

The colour is fairly nice.
