I'll bet you once it's done it's worth more than he puts into it though. However, i don't think that aspect matters as selling bikes doesn't seem to be his thing. He's living a youth dream on this bike, one he hankered for 30 years ago, so the actual values/prices don't matter in the slightest. Seems like an exceptional buy to me.

Even the bloody ugly ones like the pink thing and the red/gold monstrosity.... Well, they are to me.... i'm sure many love them. (I doubt many on here though)

My friend Martin had a Moto Martin Kawasaki,

He did 2 track days on it, and sold it as he said it was horrible to ride, but I remember road tests from the mid 80s said they were terrible compared to GSXRs

I don't think a trackday is high on his list when it's completed :D

I'm enjoying the new series too. That said Cole's presenting style is becoming increasingly stupid and is starting to grate a bit lately...

There's a point where presenters 'style' becomes 'shtick' and he seems to have reached it. I can cope with him because I like to think he's not really too different IRL. Probably completely wrong though!

Also, as said, he does make programmes with bikes in.

Henry Cole is a tit of the highest order. In my humble opinion.
I find him intensely annoying too.

Sigh. The Yoof of today.

They were astonishingly attractive French-built frame kits along the lines of Harris.

They would have had their heyday in the late 70s / early 80s when the Japanese engines were overwhelming the frames. The first GSX-R and the FZ re-wrote that rulebook.

LOL LOL

It's a chunk of history. I remember one of the Harris brothers being asked in an interview "which bike are you most proud of?" and he said "Honda's CB350SG".

The interviewer was - not surprisingly - totally baffled until it was explained to him that Honda essentially copied the Harris Magnum frame for that bike.

Mind you, I guess the CB350S is irrelevant to you too ;) It was perhaps the most gutless and overweight bike I've ever ridden. At least you didn't expect much from a 250 Superdream but the extra 100cc promised a bit more. It failed to deliver quite spectacularly. It did handle reasonably well though.

It's the 350 version of this...

34 hp and over 400 lbs weight. Relatively frugal on fuel but slow.

Bit harsh... ;)

But then I remember the glacial acceleration, the ridiculously heavy weight of the thing, the braking system that struggled to stop it from its modest top speed, the tank that rusted under the paintwork and the exhausts that rusted through... you're right :)

well he did the Moto Martin justice if you ask me and seemed properly excited to finish and ride it. Whilst you fellas may not all get on with him, he's restored some lovely machines back from the death and into nice bikes.

He spent a lot on it, but he's a similar age to me so I think a Moto Martin will be something he'd have aspired to when he was young.

It certainly seemed to be based upon what he's saying in the show.
