A bank holiday tyre quandry
Slipped a pair of conti road 3 on the XSR over the weekend.
Previous tyres were gpr300, which really suited the bike, but 1700 miles to OMFG bald.
Took her out for a shake down run, and that's exactly what it was. Once I got above 80 she'd start really snapping her bars quite badly.
Using 36/42 as per and no other changes to suspension settings.
Apart from slow down or MTFU, any suggestions!
Forgot to mention it's a dodgy old road which will show up any handling flaws!

I had some Conti Trail Attacks on a Varadero, anything above 80mph if you took your hands off the bars it would try to go lock to lock. Replaced them with Michelins and the problem went away.

In my world at times like that either the bike goes or the tyres go, there's no discussion or compromise etc, it's just bam, gone. Obviously you really like the bike usually, so the tyres would be binned.

Been having a fettle this PM.
Took it out and got the tyres good and hot, then took a pressure reading, then dropped the pressures to 36/42 hot.
Took it down the road again at speed, better but not 100%, not even 80% tbf!
Got the spanners out, well Allen key actually! Took a full turn of rebound off the front and 2 clicks off the rear.
Road test and now we have a mild weave at 180-90 kmh, but nothing like the death wobble of yesterday.
Guessing the stiffer sidewall of the contis needs a totally different set up to the dunlops.......cock!

You saw Noggin's ducati!
The gpr300 are sporty tyres with a soft carcass, the contis are sport touring and a fair bit stiffer construction. I'll get them dialled in eventually and add the settings to my database.
Tbf, I dont hoon around much more than 130k as they'll confiscate your bike if they catch you +40k over the limit, just do it on the back roads where it's more fun!
