Re: Nearly dropped lucky today
Fuck me, last one i saw close to that state went for 15K...i am not knowledgeable enough to know if its a Black Shadow or one of the other models that were around at the time but a half decent restored one will hit the 45K mark without being perfect
This little lot i saw at an auction about 3 years ago made 6 figures between them in assorted states, none were perfect and iirc the best one made 50K

Re: Nearly dropped lucky today
looks black shadow-ish speedo and casings but I can hardly credit that he let it go for 1K NO DOCS V5 NOTHING so was it nicked thirty years ago, the casing numbers will tell the tale... maybe, One of those, this is too good to be true moments, as I tried to get the bloke to answer, and for me it was.

Re: Nearly dropped lucky today
How much would it cost to turn it into a concourse bike?
It looks like a money pit.

Re: Nearly dropped lucky today
Buying it for 1K, spend 20K to get it to a decent standard and you will still turn a 100% profit without it being a concourse bikeLe_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 11:49 pm How much would it cost to turn it into a concourse bike?

Looks like an early Rapide to me (the 'cooking' version that the Black Shadow was developed from).
Still worth a lot, but not stupid money.

There is something aesthetically gorgeous about the downpipes.

Re: Nearly dropped lucky today
I'm not convinced it's not a "joke" listing. After all, who sticks a bike on Ebay without looking at what others are selling for? Advertising it for £500, then taking a grand for it would ring alarm bells.
Like those that post "barn find" Mk1 Escorts for £50 on Gumtree just to see who tries to kid a kidder.

Deffo stinky.
Picture looks a bit too professional for a bike just pulled out of a garage that you know nothing about, I bet with enough google time you'd find that picture elsewhere.

Re: Nearly dropped lucky today
Yeah it's hard to believe anyone tech savvy enough to generate an Internet listing wouldn't also look up what they've got.
As an aside, I don't think I could in good conscience pay someone £500 for something I know is worth thousands. It just feels too dishonest and scammy to me.

Re: Nearly dropped lucky today
There was a Mk1 Le Mans advert that used to appear on Ebay every few months a couple of years ago for around £1500. It would last a day or so before it got pulled. I can't see what the purpose is unless the they demand payment in advance.

Re: Nearly dropped lucky today
Look at listings for motorhomes-usually quite a few on there where the "Buy It Now" price is 30% (sometimes less) than what it should be. Bank transfer up front before it is delivered, which of course never happens.
A well documented scam that relies on the buyer knowing the items actual worth, so preying on their greed, or someone being daft enough to think that someone would genuinely sell something at such a low price just to get rid of it.

Re: Nearly dropped lucky today
There are members on Piston Heads and another couple of car forums that post up photos of a car (usually Escorts or Capri's) they found in a derelict garage in the grounds of a garden of a house they bought.
They do it not to scam money, but to see who will try to scam them to get the car (or at least the V5 and VIN plate) for nothing when they know its actual worth.
Seems odd to me, but everyone has to have a hobby!
