It gives me 30 days free access then I have to go through the same routine to get 30 more days*. Libby now shows I have 29 days remaining.

No app to download just uses Libby as the portal.

Different counties may have different services though. I'm using Surrey.

* I guess the library services get billed for each 30 day chunk.
Boing.

Don't know if other regions are doing the same but mine have changed things so that you don't get to the eMags and newspapers via Libby any more, the library app now routes you to Pressreader. I think you still log in using the library info and your membership card/pin every 30 days free access.

They've dropped their Naxos (classical music) access and a few other things too.

Budget cuts no doubt. :(

I used to have a subscription to Racecar Engineering, Mrs. D bought me it for a few years in a row. I don't even know if it's still going. Pretty much what it sounds like, magazine about Racecars but aimed at Enigneers and hence very technical. You can still get something out of it if you're an enthusiast, but it also has whole articles on Matlab code for suspension modelling for example. Also has really interesting deep dives into some of the stuff you see on motorsport TV, things like the F-Duct or FRIC. Maybe I should start getting it again actually...

I also really like Nat Geo and read it in every Dentist I wait at! Again, should probably start getting that again.

EDIT: Yep, still very much going.

Love that! Young person reading about old things through an old format! Very atmospheric! Future writer perhaps?

My Adventure Rider subscription has just auto-renewed via paypal.

I've no idea how to cancel it. The price hasn't changed since I subscribed maybe 10 years ago. £18.

I'm just impressed they can fit a car through his letter box.

I finally subscribed to a Cross Stitch magazine. I am not a fan of reading online (someone did tell me there's a reason some people struggle to read from a screen - can't recall why it's only some people, but something to do with the flickering of the screen). And also there's usually a free card kit or similar attached to the mag.

When I'm in the UK I did go overboard and bought some extra cross stitch ones and some crochet and knitting ones

I like the food magazines - I do use the BBC Food site for recipes but I just like having a magazine to flick through :)

But then, I am a bit old fashioned quite often, and as I said, I struggle to/don't enjoy reading a lot of info on a screen :angelic-green:

Bit late now as you've subscribed but...my missus does cross-stitch Christmas cards and rather than subscribe she looks at the back issues and just gets the odd ones that have kits/freebies/projects that she wants. She gets them from Willow Fabrics.

You are not alone in preferring the real thing to on-line mags. You can turn corners down for quick reference, tear pages out and ditch unwanted bits, scribble notes on things and, if it's what floats yer boat, cut 'em up for collage or decoupage. :D

I prefer real books to Kindle/phone/tablet too. Although I have a Kindle if I'm not sure if I want to spend more than a couple of quid on something or want a few choices when on holiday etc.

My dad gets Good Motoring from Gem, free with some insurance or other I think.
He saves articles he thinks I'll be interested in for me to read 😊

My da used to do that too. He'd also cut out articles if I was mentioned in the local papers for...uh..various reasons. :silent:

Funny how quickly you look back on little things like that and it's all history.

I get a scuba diving magazine free with my BSAC mambership. I usually glance at the cover then put it on top of the others. I binned a couple of years worth last week, I don't know why I don't throw them away immediately.
