Covid restrictions - are you adhering or not?

I can't see why your mate can't go out,just stay the fuck away from people and go for a walk,or something.

This is the confusion surrounding the rules. My kid goes to school and is in a 'bubble' of c. 300 kids in her year group. She can walk home with her two best mates, but can't invite them in to do their homework together, as is their wont most days. All the people I know who have it in their house have said it was their kids bringing it home from school. Two mates who's boys brought it home and my mate's wife who works in a school that has just sent every kid home. It was inevitable that this would happen, but was there an alternative?

Last time I went to a pub & restaurant, it was all controlled and people were abiding to the rules. The only issue was chucking out at 10pm and people forced out into a narrow street from all the establishments. Now that that opportunity to meet up has been closed, it's not really a surprise people will meet up in private houses, where nobody will wear a mask, sanitize hands, etc. It's self-defeating.

Anyhow, looks like The Smoke will be shut down today. Announcement at 3.30pm apparently. Looks like my lunch on Friday has been well and truly kyboshed.

Errr, to keep the schools closed? - to go into full lockdown and stop the spread?

I have been pretty much carrying on as normal whilst adhering to the 'rules'.

I wear a mask, i keep my distance (that's impossible in schools but i try) i have not met up with anyone but my 1 friend i am allowed to see being as i live on my own etc etc etc.

There will be no end to this shit until common sense prevails over greed or someone firebombs number 10, we need to just carry on as normal and let the ones who want to isolate continue isolating, they can make their own decisions on when they want to start living again.

My old man is on his last legs and has not been out since march. I was speaking to him last week and he is so depressed and is thinking he might just rather get covid and die than live the rest of his life as a hermit.

When will it end, when we as the people stand up and say so - or someone blows up number 10.

Well that's fucked things. Just had a message from child #2's school. Confirmed case in her year group. Both classes excluded, isolate for 10 days. It's her birthday tomorrow and it is Christmas lunch at her school today. Need to tell the 70yr old diabetic FIL that they might want to rethink coming to our for Christmas day. Fuck you Rona.

We had been pretty much to the letter until last weekend, when we took my Step Dad out for dinner with my Sister and nephew and his wife. We aren't from the same household but told the restaurant we were.

When out and about we wear masks, sanitise repeatedly, wipe down trolleys and social distance. If somewhere is too busy for us we simply don't go in. That said, my Step Mother has dementia so I have to shop for her and sometimes go in to Tesco when its busier than I like, but I can't always get round that.

We meet the Mother-in-Law and her partner on her veranda, but its getting too cold and damp to do that now, as she is 90 now and him 78. We don't really see the Father-in-Law and his partner other than a 2-3 minute chat if we drop something off they need. Its been quite tough on my wife not really seeing her parents, but as she works in a school, she is too much of a risk for them to do so. This was highlighted yesterday when she was sent home as a girl in her class tested positive for covid. We all have lateral flow tests this afternoon and hope this clears us otherwise Xmas is ruined for my Step Dad and Sister.

We have a couple of family members who don't give a shit about covid and think they are risk free and we're all stupid for falling for the hype and panic over it. I've agreed to agree to disagree for the sake of family harmony, but made it quite clear they need to stay away from the olds.

I agree the messages from Govt can be confusing for some, but mixing where necessary for the sake of economy and education is a token from Govt to keep things moving, but keeping separate outside of those needs lessens the risk of spreading, so it does make some sense. For me though, its not Govt policies that spread viruses, its people that do that. So it was no great surprise that when everyone started meeting up and hospitality opened up the R number started increasing. I've been very dismayed by some peoples selfishness over this.

There is one reason why the infection rates are going up - and that is because vast numbers of the population are not bothering with restrictions.
Here on the South Coast , it is fair to say that anyone between 11 and 35 seems to think it doesn’t apply to them. Wearing of masks - most of the population seems to be exempt - and oddly that seems to be directly correlated with the groups that are most likely to die from it ( Darwin in action, I guess)

However - considering that we are one of the lowest infection rates in the country - but get lumped into tier 2, I can understand the reaction

Maybe, maybe not. The Government advice doesn't say stop sending kids to school though? What it does say you can only meet as a household or a bubble, I've got a mate who is a publican and it's crystal clear that people are lying when asked if they are a 'family group' when they come for a meal and 10 pints. Legally he has to ask them, but he cannot do much if he doesn't believe them. My brother in London sees people gathering and drinking on the streets every night, it's crazy that people just don't seem to care - "I'm okay, it won't happen to me".

It's not about my struggling. Meetings can be cancelled, that's not the issue FFS. My boss and my company are very flexible, we're all in this shit together. Many are worse off, many are sick and will die...hence me ranting about people being dicks and not taking precautions to protect each other. All three of the places of education we use have implemented excellent stratagies to protect staff, pupils and parents. However, the other places I have to visit for necessity - supermarket etc. I see people not wearing masks or not wearing them properly. It's simply staggering that they won't take this seriously.

I only see what's happening in my locale (SW France) obvs. But back in June when we were just out of the first lockdown and the rules were still very iffy 'do what you feel is best' then there were huge variations in implementation.

Big supermarche you could do what you want for example.
Big diy shoppe at the other end of the scale - masks compulsory and woe betide you go within 2 metres of staff.
Local one-man-band shops - generally self-protection for staff but not much else.

That all really changed after the infection rate started to rise again in August / September - much tighter rules, mandatory masks for the general population in mutual spaces inside and mandatory outside in large parts of town centres. You really don't have much choice other than to comply when literally everyone else is. There's still loads of 'sheeple' moaning - but I can't be arsed with it. I want this over and I'll be buggered if I'm going to get it on the final lap.
